Well, I am back from Texas, and what a ride I had.
My first hunt was in Decatur, Texas at a 26,000 acre ranch. I was after a sika stag but on the first day this beautiful Texas Dall ram kept offering shots and I could not resist so my Schafer Silvertip "Love Potion #9" spoke and he was down within 15 yards. I am a firm believer in not passing on something the first day that I would take on the last day. Glad I took him as the next three days was very high winds and I saw nothing else I could shoot.

My next hunt was for four days at a ranch in Bracketville, Texas. I was covered up with game on every sit and the first evening after drawing on her 6 times I finally got a clear shot on this beautiful fallow doe with by new Brackenbury Quest. She was down within a few yards.

The next three days I was after an old cull whitetail buck and finally on the last evening I was able to take him, hit him a bit far back but the wonderful tracking dog found him after a bit.
He was 9 years old and still in velvet, well past his prime and needed to be taken out of the gene pool. I was proud to do it. The silvertip spoke again.

My next hunt was for 7 days at my good friend's place in Freer, Texas and as always I had a blast. Got to hunt with a tradganger from Austria who goes by yononindo, great fella to share camp with.
I missed a turkey at 15 yards and had pigs come in after it was too dark to shoot but on the next to last evening I saw at least 19 whitetail does and took this fine lady with ny Quest, made a great shot and whe was down in 15 yards.

Sorry for the poor pictures on this doe, I forgot my camera at camp and they were taken with a cell phone, not the best but still great memories.
I was after a double main beam buck that my friend had trail camera pics of, but he never showed himself, the weather was not the best and just got good when I had to leave.
As I said, what a ride, I was blessed with a good year and was able to fill my daughter's freezer.
Danny

Those bows are... NOT... too pretty to take hunting!!!

Thanks everyone, it was a great time and to top it off my daughter in Houston blessed us with a beautiful new grandbaby girl a day before thanksgiving. All of the meat from my animals went to her freezer, course I ate some in the field and at her house before I left, lol.
Wife is gonna kill me, getting a shoulder mount on the ram and a european mount of the buck, not sure they can save the velvet though.
Danny congrats on the new grand daughter, looks like you had some fine hunts.
congrats Danny !
I was shooting AD Trad arrows with 100 gr brass inserts and both 300 xtremes and 250 gr VPAs on the front, those heads perform flawlessly and leave blood trails Ray Charles could follow, lol. Even though I saw all of the animals fall within site except the buck, I still like to follow blood.
Sounds like a great trip, topped off by a grand addition to the family! Congrats!!
Way to go Danny...glad you had a great time and put a few nice animals on the ground.
Great trip!!Congrats!!!
Beware the man with several bows. He probably knows how to shoot them. I saw that tip posted on Dave's site. Absolutely stunning. Glad to see you hunt with it.
Very well done, Danny.

Congrats Danny! I met up with yononindo last week right before he went to Laguna Atascosa to hunt. Looks like you had a great time and took some fine animals!
BTW, I hope you let your brother in on how things went before you posted this thread. He was asking in another thread the other day if anyone had news from your hunt because you had not updated him. lol
Congrats again,
Bisch
Danny, congrats on all the animals. What ranch were you hunting in Decatur? I've done a lot of hunting up there myself...
way to go Danny !!
Danny, sounds like you just can't make up your mind which bow to use - if my count is correct that was 2 for the Schaefer and 2 for the Quest!! Decisions, decisions :banghead: Great job on the hunts and congrats on the grandbaby!!
Joe

From my cold dead fingers,LOL.
Bill,
It is cocobolo, hand engraved.
Jeff,
Of course, that is what it was made for.
Ryan,
LOL, naw, the wife would not like that, it goes on the bow rack as all of my bows do.
Man you been sacking up the game! Good job on some cool animals.
Congrats on a great hunt! Who made the green wool shirt/jacket that you have on in the first couple of pics?
Congrats my friend!

Ed,
That jacket was made by a previous owner of Predator woolens clothing a long time ago, I have had it at least 8 years.
