I use 100% wool yarn.
Bisch
wool or beaver.
I like muskrat on longbows and wool yarn on recurves (use the yarn for the puff and to wrap the ends of string where they hit limbs
Depend the string material, with dacron you can use almost all silencer type ,rubber, acrylic or natural yarn.
If you use modern material string, like astro flight,go with musk oz yarn,is the best silencer for this kind of string.
yarn
Wool yarn here too.
Beaver on my selfbows, Fleece strips on my recurves. Also like the wool yarn type too. I make my own.
The Navajo Wool silencers that Jim Neaves(Centaur) sells are my favorite. They are also available from 3Rivers.

Yarn......I have had good luck with string leeches also, but they are ugly. Wool yarn is my favorite! I make my own.
I have used all kinds but Terry Greens girls Bow Hush and Hush Puppies is by far the best I have used. They have a liitle deal you can order on in the shooters forum I think. Scott
I really like cat whiskers. Plain and simple. If one set doesn't quiet a bow down enough for me I tie on a second smaller set.
String puffs made from 20% wool and 80% acrylic.
woolies.
I also like cat whiskers. Have used them for years.
Wool, beaver
I just switched from beaver balls to wool from bow hush/hush puppy and noticed a huge difference. The wool wins hands down.
I've been using 1"+ pieces of leather boot lace for many years now. Soak them overnight in Pitch Blend or SnoSeal and they never take on any water. Very durable and work great. I also have some Llama fur that works very well.
catwiskers
I use Hushpuppies only to support the site, in the past wool yarn sprayed with Scothguard both very small. On the Hushpuppies I cut them in half width wise and then trim them very very small around my string. I also use Cat Whiskers with them but same deal around a 1" long & 1" wide. If that don't work you have other issues.
Yarn. Natrual or acrylic
I use 2 pr of string leeches. Esp. good for when the weather is wet

Wool.
Navaho Wool from Centaur paired with a SBD 8 strand string. Dead silent
Hush Puppies....and on my recurves, Bow Hush and Hush Puppies! Best I have ever used!
8 small strips of fleece material tied together with serving. Works like a charm. Beaver on my selfbows.
Beaver or otter. I find that they tend to pick up and hold a lot fewer burrs, stickers, etc. than wool.
Wool yarn! One skeen of wool yarn will make dozens of silencers and it's cheap. I'm all about cheap 8^)
Jason
Wool yarn for me.
Wool yarn, make my own,can taylor them to the specific application.
Musk Ox.
Bill
beaver
Rubber from the inside of old luggage straps, (bit like cat whiskers) works really well for me, and cheap as!!
Beaver balls - they work and look cool.
I use the Bow Hush and Huppies
I have cat whiskers on most of my strings. I watched the video from the Island fellows to put them on much better than I have for many years.
I have yarn on one bow that the bowyer put on. It is very quiet.
I have string leeches on a couple.
I'm going to get some wool yarn and give it a try.
