I'm the kind of busy guy (like a lot of the rest of you) who doesn't have the time to dedicate to learning to hunt whitetails purely by experience. I have no one around to mentor off of, either.
"Buckskin and Bone" has really encouraged me to keep at it, and is full of great tips. I really know very little about the Wensels, so this is not a 'fan' report.
The book is written in an easy-to-read style, too. I would recommend it to those who would be interested in piggy-backing on Gene's experience and deer savvy.
Agreed!! I have enjoyed my signed copy by Gene!! Good info offered by a great fellow.
Great book by a great guy. Mike Mittens book is also great.
I just started reading it and so far its very good, lots of great info.
So you've discovered the Wesnsels. Yeah, they've been around a while, and they know a bit about deer hunting. :bigsmyl:
I have it on my Christmas list!
I learned a lot reading Bucksin and Bone. I pick up more each time I read it.
I read Come November by Gene every year. There is more whitetail information in that book then my limited brain can retain. I learn something new and am reminded of many little things each time I read it. Rogers first book gets read most years too.
Agree as well, he writes a good book. Come November is great as well, only two of his I have read.
I'm getting it plus Once Upon a Tine for Christmas!
All of Gene and Barry,s writings are very well worth paying attention too,if you have limited time or all the time in the world in my opinion
Good books,Great Bowhunters. To share this information and knowlege with us is a true gift.I've learned to pay attention over the years."hunt downwind of primary scrapes",HUNTING RUTTING WHITETAILS,1982.It works for me.Thanks Gene.
Like Walt above I start reading Come November and Treestand Strategies in august every year. Now that I added Once upon a Tine and Buckskin & Bone to my collection i will read them every year also.
I've read "One Mans Whitetail" so many times that if you were to read the first few words of a sentence out of it to me, I could finish the rest of the sentence word for word! Good stuff.
