I put in every year, so far my number has come up yet. I think this may be my year!
I've entered ever since it started, maybe this will be my lucky year.
I've put in 3 times and not had any luck yet, but ya never know
doug77
Entered every year nothing.
My wife got drawn this year and killed a 360 class 7x7. We enter every year also. Great hunt!!
I enter every year, with little hope of drawing :( .But I figure if I don't enter I have no hope of drawing, so I still try every year.

Gotta be in it to win it!!!
Going to put in my $10 now, I did it year before last and forgot about it last year.
count me in...about like wining powerball...but I keep buying tickets...
I put in for it but I'm less than enthusiastic about it after I got wind of how the commissioner and a few well placed Dept of Wildlife officials got this whole thing rigged and they are guaranteed tags for the "associations" they run. One guy, and several of his family members have been issued tags every year. There's a big stink about it in the sportsman's community because it seems a select few have been enriching themselves off this program at the expense of the sportsmen across the state.
Jeff, you are throwing some very false accusations.
The first time I put in 3 years ago for archery tag and did not get drawn. However later that year, I believe it was in November I recieved a leter saying that they had several leftover muzzleloader tags for December that they where offering on a first come basis but I had already booked a hunt in Missouri so I had to pass.
I put in the next year and never drew a tag and have not applied since.

What ya got that refutes the above?
And after the ethics review, the charges were dismissed.
If you are lucky enough to draw a tag, it is a hunt of a lifetime. I've apllied every year since 2001 and not drawn yet either...
ill buy one of the governers tags if i got too...i got a place down there with no pressure, and is not hunted at all....i have some sheds that are just amazing..........

That's not what happened. The Executive Ethics Commission declined to investigate because they said it was out of their jurisdiction. Neither Jack Conway's office (State Attorney General) not the Governor's office looked into it either. Proof once again why KY is rated as the worst run state in the country.
I can say 100% the KY elk lottery is legit. If you don't want to apply because of hearsay and false accusations then don't. That only increases my odds of drawing a tag! :)
I had applied for the last decade for one of the northern Indiana pheasant hunt dates and never got drawn. I finally stopped this past year and it's free! Anyway..I will be in the Kentucky drawing again. Tried every year since I was able.

I'm not claiming the lottery is crooked. I'm saying that there are elk tags issued to people in the KDFWR that are not available to the public. I'm saying there's a lot of people with connections hunting elk that are benefiting from their position with the department. The have made rules and put themselves in positions that allow them to benefit personally at OUR expense.
There are landowner tags and commission tags that anyone can purchase.
That does seem fishy.
I enter every year, put the wife in also. She drew a bull tag in 2009, guess she used up all my luck on her 4x4!
What is the deadline?
Any good info on hunting Ky for Elk? Is it state wide? Public land or do you have to lease private? Anyone have a link or info? Sounds very cool!
Katie, my wife killed hers on public land, but we had friends that livedd near the zone she got drawn in. YOu have to get drawn first, then draw the area you hunt in. Ky Jeff is on point, a lot of people have mysteriously gotten drawn, 3-4 times each. Odds of that happening, by the FW's own addmisson on the call in show, was 50 million to one, that was before they found out the caller was asking about a FW employee, who got drawn, 4 years in a row, and his son and he got drawn last year. Not a bought tag, not a govenerors tag, etc. I cant complain, my wife got drawn, her brother got drawn the next year. Drawing is on the up and up for the most part, but there are several tags that are handed out to select inidividuals, multiple times, and they supposedly got drawn, wink, wink. A lot more shady stuff goes on in the eastern part of the state in realtion to this also, I have experienced it first hand, and FW were involved, but we have to take the good with the bad.I will put in this year.
The deadline is April 30, fw.ky.gov They are in 16 eastern KY counties, public and private land.
You can apply for 2 different permits, but can only draw 1.
No one has drawn 4 times, let alone a F&W employee.
Katie! If you apply I'll apply!
Sounds like I have better Elk odds than I do powerball:)
Katie and B Glass, Pm me if you need more info, I can break it down for you since the wife and I have been thru the whole process. Or if you want, call me at 606-307-2079.
Well, what has been posted about Gassett is proof of nothing, its allegations. Sounds like if it was dismissed there was no proof. There could be some dirty crap going on, but it has to be proven, and untill it is accusations do nothing more than taint the whole program and threaten the success of it. I see Kentucky has the largest elk herd east of the Missisippi, that is a tribute to the hard work and efforts of KDFW, the same group of fine folks that have pulled this off. I happen to have a lot of friends that work, or have worked for KDFW, and an attack against them, upsets me. Most of the naysayers in no way at all ever helped to reestablish or improve wildlife or wildlife habbitat in our state, mostly they bitch and whine about what KDFW does not allow them to do. There will allways be ones that get something done, and others that ..., well..., bitch and whine.
