9 days ago he wrote this on an Iowa thread:

"I shot a nice buck last night, walked all day with never finding the deer. I had lots of blood, and then he beded three time's in fifty yards, and when he got up the blood was very little of it. He went on the next guys ground to the south. I'm headed back out tomorrow to try to find him"
Needless to say he has been sick to his stomach since then, until tonight when he found it!
He has limited access to the web right now so he gave me the go ahead to post this pic for him.

Oh to live in a place like Iowa gives me chills. Great buck and good job sticking with him.
Chad has control that's for sure, he passed up some really nice bucks this year knowing this guy was in the area. I am sure glad he found it, he has trail cam pics of it but they really didnt show all those points, I wish I lived closer to him so I could see it in person.

Finally, I had found the buck that I shot w/my longbow, on November 17, as the last of the evening light was fading away. At the time, all I could see was shadows and hear the sounds of a big-bodied deer walking and pausing slowly through the woods towards me. As the deer came into view, I had my longbow drawn and ready(still everything was all shadows)I shot my 1st arrow, it slid off of the "shelf" and landed directly in front of what I believed to be a huge buck. At that moment my heart sank, I couldn't believe it! Wait, he didn't run, he did a little hop, then glanced around, didn't sense any danger I assume, he then preceded to a big "community scrape"(3 other young bucks had already visited as I waited for "The Coonster" to walk into my path, just as I had all season)! Now, w/this buck scraping away, I released a second arrow, and would you believe it-that branch that I knew I should have cut deflected my arrow, causing the arrows flight to glance over the deers back. As only a fellow huntsman can and probally has imagined, I felt like jumping out of my stand!!!! LoL! I looked up and he was still there, unbelievable!!! I drew my 3rd and final arrow, held my breath, picked a spot and aimed my 60" 47@28 Lost Creek TD, released my arrow w/a 150 grain "Razorcap" broadhead, heard a "loud smack" and knew deep inside that that arrow had found its mark!!! The next morning I went out w/2 other trackers, and preceded to follow a half-mile bloodtrail, to no avail, continued searching till mid-day, and then off and on through-out the week w/no luck! So, I decided it just wasn't meant to be!!! Earlier today my step-son and I went out to move a tree-stand 150 yards from where I had made my uneventful 3 arrow shots, I happened to look off towards all that was left of the original homestead, a small shed, and there laid "The Coonster" I had been chasing all fall and part of last year! He had a 3-blade razorcap hole right behind his shoulder blade, but when I had released my arrow he was quartering away, which made the arrows flight exit through his low neck/brisket area, which unfortunately led to a long, eventful tracking session. The moral of my experience is "Never Give Up" as "Dreams Do Come True"! Green score- 182 6/8ths, my largest trophy to date, and taken w/a Traditional Longbow that I had personally crafted(a double bonus "buck").
Just Awsome, Congratulations, God bless you, Steve

Congrats Chad! What a stud of a buck!!
That's SMOKIN!!!!!!
Chad, congrats my friend :)

Awesome buck! :clapper:
Beautiful! Congrats!!!
(to everyone else) Makes ya want to move to Iowa, doesn't it!
Great buck Chad! Perseverance must be your middle name!

Congratulations Chad. That's a monster!!! Glad you found him.
Congrats! That is an awesome deer!
What a super buck !
WOW!!
Good thing bowhunting isn't catch and release! Wow, what a great buck.
3 arrows! Must have been meant to be your buck. Congrats.
Holy Cannoli! Now that's a Beauty! I wonder what bow he was shooting!!?? :archer:
I was shooting the new 3 piece takedown with brown glass front and back, with a brown action wood handle, Osage accents, and overlays. I guess I answered the question as if the three piece bow I build is quiet. I hate buck fever but it had me pretty bad that night. I dropped him off at the taxidermy shop and he said 3 to 4 months. I can't wait to get him on the wall.
Man Chad what a buck. Very nice job. Great to hear such determination on the recovery. Nice to know I'm not the only guy with buck fever occasionally. Course who can blame you on that deer.
Congrats for a monster buck!
WOW!!!!
Awesome buck Chad...
Great deer Chad!!!! RJ
Congratulations on a beautiful buck! I can see how a buck of those proportions could give a person a case of "buck fever"!

What a pig!! Congrats on a nice buck Chad! I still have yet to give credit where credit is due to Chad. I had bought one of his life enders this summer and have rarely been seen without it since. I love the thing!!
Very nice! Now you can sleep at night. In this part of the country you have to rush out of your stand to beat the coyotes and buzzards. It's hard to imagine you found him in tact.Congrats.
Congrats Chad!!!!!!!....Wow....that is a sho-nuff bruiser.
Buck of a lifetime.....you gotta be stoked you found him!!!
I'm ready to bail from Ohio and move to Iowa!!!!
Awesome buck Chad congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations Chad! What a bruiser. I have a question though. And this is not to take away from such a great animal and your percervearance. But was the meat still good after such a long period? Just curious, incase this ever happens to me. Is it ok to eat?
Chad, CONGRATS MAN!!!! What a buck. I am so happy for you. With a bow you built yourself too. God Blessed ya.
Just curious. If you had to guess, did he die that evening or early the next day or on some other day in between finding him? I've had a couple interesting recoveries on deer hit a hair too far forward and intersted on what you feel happened here.
Great deer and I'm glad you found it. The trail cam pics are an add'l bonus. Good job.
Chad,
What a fine Whitetail, I can't imagine trying to hold it together with a buck like that, but would sure love to give it a go. Congrats brother !
Lanier
Very nice Chad!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations, that is one nice buck!
I hadn't thought of it before but unfortunately the buck fever must come with the name. ;)
georgeous! congratulations on such a magnificent buck.

Super nice buck, Chad!
he looks way bigger than Green score- 182 6/8ths .... he has a WOW factor that scores don't show!!
great great buck
Awesome!
That's a Toad!! CONGRATS! TD.
Super buck!
Hey Chad, if I draw an Iowa tag and use a Lost Creek 48# Life Ender, you think there's another one like that out there?
For me that is what's called a shooter ater. :archer2: Seriously, congrates on the awesome buck. Glad you found him.
Chad, you are the man!
Please show us the bow that brought that bruiser down.
My LC is an awesome shooter!
Not the man, just Lucky ,and I put my time in. This is the bow I shot this past season and killed the deer with. (http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h58/buckvalley/015.jpg)
Ron, if you draw a tag. I would be more than glad to take you on a hunt. There is still some nice buck left, and who knows what will be in the woods next year.
Wish my Widow was as fast as my Lost Creek.
Did I say that out loud??
Awesome buck, congrats!
