Usually before the season I will try and narrow it down to one bow and just concentrate on using it
But the older I get the harder it seems to be to commit to anything :) .
Case in point just the other day I picked up a Bob Lee and after cleaning it up and setting it up it's really got me thinking about using it in the late season
Usually it only takes a few shots to adjust from bow to bow but I know I would be better off not switching around so much but I really enjoy shooting different bows whAt are yours guys thoughts on this
So many bows so little time :)

That's a fine collection! Is the fourth one from the top your Curly Maple Fedora?
I wish I could get down to 2 bows, and similar as one'd be a back-up, but it's tough.
Hi Danny
No that one is tiger maple riser with black locust limbs
The one your thinking about I think is 4 th from the bottom
Thanks
I will make it easier for you Joe , send me that out of place Longbow at the top!!
I agree. I'm going to unload a dz. or more bows pretty soon. Hap
Doesn't bother me at all switching from bow to bow. I shoot them all equally bad! Lol! Seriously, I try not to make a switch mid-season, but like you I like to shoot each and every one. Started the season with my widow, killed a couple with that. Put some skins on my pronghorn the other day and decided to finish out the season with it. Nice bow collection!

The smart thing would be to stick with one bow, but nobody ever accused me of being smart.
For me, it isn't just about hunting; it is also about the magic of the bow, and I have loved trying-out many different ones.
I usually stick with one bow for a few months, and then a yearning to get reaquainted with an old favourite on the rack makes me hang one up and try another.
How long does it take u guys to go from one bow to another and feel confident
I have been trying to stay with at least on brand.
How do you reach the ones at the top of your rack??

Ladder :)
Oh, okay! (duh!) :smileystooges:
Less is more. Shoot the one you have the most confidence with.
I can switch pretty quick, maybe 15-20 shots. That said I have been staying with one bow lately. Although I did shoot a doe with a yard sale Bear I picked up opening day this year and used it 5 days later to kill her! Shawn
listen and see which one is talking to you, take that one. why have them if you aren't going to take em all out from time to time...... I think I hear a different one calling come to think of it.
I've been shooting longbows and recurves for more than 50 years now and have never had a problem switching from one to the other. About 80% of the time, I shoot the same longbow, but I might use a different bow in the afternoon sit than I used the same morning. Mostly depends on my stand situation. A short recurve works better in very tight quarters or a blind. Longbow is fine in most other situations. My bows and arrows are all pretty close to the same weight so there's little adjusting to do. Though I prefer a straight grip,i t's no trouble changing to a medium recurve grip. About the only grip I really don't like is a very high wrist recurve grip, but I don't own any bows like that.
I don't buy the argument that sticking with one bow,or one gun, or one anything, will necessarily make you better with it than if you alternate among several. Proper practice is what makes you better.
Easy choice for me. I would go with the Black Widow I love their recurves. But I have a passion for longbows. I only shoot 1 bow period and it's my T-Hawk.
I own two recurves.
For me, it's easier to go a different poundage bow so long as the two bows are the same model of recurve.
I know I can put my 42# Blacktail down, pick up my 37# Blacktail and with the very next arrow, put the arrow on a spot on a target where I want the arrow to hit without skipping a beat.
You are right, jumping bows is not good. But it sure is fun! As long as they have high grips, I don't notice any difference, I seem to miss just as much!!!
I'm like all of us on here I love ALL trad bows . BUT feel we all would be better off sticking to one style of bow for the season at least .
I have sold all my bows with the exception of my Schafer recurves to eliminate the temptation of shooting others .
During season I stay with the bows that I am natrally on the mark the 1st shot.
Other than that, I am too attracted to the different experiences other bows bring to the table.
When I started shooting traditional I was learning everything myself. I started reading and watching video's, buying and selling more than 2 dozen bows in search of that Holy Grail bow in less than 2 years. I bought different weighted bows, lengths, designs and so on. I am admittedly addicted to tradbows now. After I found what I really liked I concentrated on 2 bowyers, one face mounted and one back mounted limb design. I would shoot one design one year and switch to the other the next year. The whole time letting one sit for a year till after the hunting season. I could not stand it anymore. I wanted to get serious about my shooting to become a better archer, so as much as it hurt, I sold 3 of the one design and have concentrated on one bowyers recurves and longbows. This change has helped me tremendously with my shooting. I think what really helped was shooting bows that were familiar in hand, not having to readjust to the difference in designs and how they shoot. Now the problem is recurve or longbow? I love them both equally as well, truely I do. When I have one or the other in my hand I say, this IS my go to bow, then next time I shoot I may grab the other and say the very same thing with sincerity. I have decided I will shoot them both and settle for the best I can be with these 2 bows. Recurve is a 56" B-Model Mentor 61#@28" and the longbow is a 66" Royal 61#@28" by Wes Wallace. I use the same arrows with each and no matter which I have in my hands I'm loving it! Now no matter the hunting situation, I'm comfortable with which ever I have in my hands that suits what and where I'm hunting. I think all in all shooting same weight, same arrows, and better focus from limited variables has helped me shoot better than ever. I think confidence is very important and harder to obtain when shooting a lot of different designs from different bowyers.
"Matt its a Monarch Royal and it's 69 # at 27 inches"
Dang Joe, too heavy for me, would have to grit my teeth to shoot it.
I switch several times a season. This year about 2/3 through bow season I switched up and killed a deer while packing the Shrew for the 2nd time this season.
Joe,I want you to repeat this after most of us here." Hi My Names Joe and I'm a Bow-a-Holic " !LOL.
The only known cure(according to us all!) is repeated use of many differant bows and totally enjoying it!
I'm "guilty" too of the same thing. I do remember, though, a saying attibuted to the west - "beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it"!!
I have multiple bows. They are all Wes Wallace Royals in matching length and draw weights. I have the pleasure of shooting multiple bows that shoot exactly the same. I no longer worry about I might miss. I know it will be within an inch or two of where I was looking.
I'll happily "Store" the 1 piece Schafer second from the bottom for you for as long as it takes.. That way you won't be tempted to add another bow into the mix "Mid Season" and it's right in my perfect weight range. :goldtooth:
Gene :D
I currently have more than one bow and I have owned many, many different bows. I don't think I'm ever going to settle on just one bow. I've tried so many of them, I think my next step is to try making my own bow to suit myself.
Had to go in the other room and count. I have 32 bows, longbows and recurves. Fifteen are shooters. The last five deer I shot were with a Hill Badger and an old green Bear Kodiak Mag. I definitely shoot the bow I'm going to big game hunt with a while before I hunt. However, life's short. Get a bunch of bows and shoot them all!
