Anyone here shooting arrow WAY longer then an inch or 2 past the shelf? Reason I ask is because I was testing some 34inch 2417 yesterday and got the to shoot pretty darn good. I like them because the way a ton and seem to hit like a jack hammer. Passing through or darn close on a hay bail at 20 yards.
But they over hang ALOT since I only typically shoot a 29 inch arrow.
Anyone else?
I'm drawing about 29 inches and shoot a 31" arrow. Seem to be doing well.
Yes, I often use point of aim or gap technique. I shoot full length or close to it.
I draw a little over 29" and shoot a full length arrow.
OK cool fellas...thanks for your input.
This is simply what I have observed but I have seen this many times and when I asked the shooter casually what his draw length and arrow length is I discover he thinks his draw length is 2 and even 3 inches longer than it actually is.
It just comes down to personal preference.
In other words, if they fly great, hit hard and you like them, it doesn't matter if there is 5" of overhang and you might be the only person on TG who shoots with 5" of overhang.
As an analogy, I'm probably the only aluminum arrow shooter on TG who bowhunts animals with a thin walled 2212 target arrow. I like it and that's the only thing that matters to me.
In closing, you don't have to bend to conventional wisdom with regards to "arrow overhang". Some of us don't run with the pack nor do we follow the pack.
I draw 26.75" and shoot a 29.25" arrow. I also use a type of gap shooting method so I like my arrows that long because it makes my gap less at closer ranges.
It doesn't matter how long your arrows are as long as the spine is correct for the length of arrow you choose to shoot and your broadhead isn't too close to your bow at full draw.
Also, what Night Wing said.
Thats some good advice Nightwing...thanks
shooting mine full lenght too
I shoot full length arrows and don't have a choice.
I shoot full length also biggest issue is how far they stick out of a bow quiver

LOL with a name like Big Ed I would imagine so.
Funny thing is..the fella that gave me these logs is a close personal friend that we call "Big Ed". He's 6ft 7 with a 33inch draw.
