Title: Traditional archer clothing
Post by: woodhippie on November 23, 2011, 09:02:00 AM
I know for most, traditional archery is a life style. My question is how many wear the traditional archery clothing on a daily basis (wool pullover, fedora style hats, neck knives, etc)to the store or around town in general?  Do you just use it for hunting/camping? I would like to see daily pictures of dress. Thanks!

The best I do is a trad gang hat and some stickers all over my truck.

As I'm sitting here alone in my cubicle at the office, I'm wearing jeans and a Woolrich red & black plaid shirt.  Hanging up on the peg is my Filson gray & black plaid cape coat and crushable packer hat.

All that's missing is the woods, a bow & a quiver.    :archer:

Mostly I work indoors and have to wear a tie, so it's a different world.  But rather than give in entirely to the executroid lifestyle I wear a brown leather A-2 flight jacket and brown bowler or brown Borsalino hat to work.

Around the farm I certainly wear wool in the winter.  My wife spins and we have sheep, so wool sweaters and socks especially are pretty much the norm.

I also have an Esse Izula neck knife on pretty much commonly.

Wore this to a wedding a few years ago (red wool sleeved westkit).

Please no pics wider than 640

I have a Classic Bowman jacket I wear in cooler weather and a beaver felt fedora when it gets nasty out. When it's real nasty I have an old Barbour coat, the heavy one, left over from my retriever training days.

Most of the time I live in a L.L. Bean tan barncoat I inherited from my father and a Droptine Traditions ball cap.

I NEVER wear camo socially unless it's to an outdoor game dinner attended by hunters.

I work outside inspecting cross country transmission line. For work I always have wood under my work clothes. I would love to wear a wool jacket and pants, but with all the stickers we have in Iowa I don't do it.

I tend to dress in plaids and carry a belt knife etc on a daily basis.  I cannot for work (office), but as soon as I am outta there the tie comes off and the loose stuff comes out.

Do a search, check some of the sponsors - I've found that a brim over 2 inch messes me up shooting.  You may be able to do other wise.

Had to laugh a little at Doug77 walking around with "wood" under his work clothes!

On a more serious note I wore a wool Pendleton plaid shirt today and always have my Filson Mac Cruiser in the work truck.  All those pockets come in handy holding wirenuts and staples when I'm working on a new house with no heat.

The lady who owns the local store that I buy my Pendletons at gives me the evil-eye when I tell her I wear them to work.

Yeah the "always have wood under my work clothes" caught me off guard too but then I figured it out.

The way I think about it is I don't want my hunting clothes smelling like all the human activity I'm around if possible.

I definitely do like to wear my wool, pendeltons, earth tones etc. Not too big on wearing camo around town though...   "[dntthnk]"
