Our local shop just got a 3 piece in. Too light for me but he let us shoot it and Herb has not lost his artistic toch. This one has a red wood riser that is beautiful. Anyone shoot pronghorns that have a different color riser than Herb usually uses?

Here's mine. Been so long I can't even remember what it's called anymore, but I haven't seen too many like it.
Oh gosh yes. I have 19 Pronghorns all a bit different. Hard rock maple, curly maple, laminate, bacote, hickory, osage, walnut, shedua, ziracote (I think thats how you spell it), zebra wood, and some more I do not know what the risers are. I can't keep track of "the herd" anymore.
19????!!!!!! You are officially my hero
I have a few Osage zebra hickory

My wife say's I'm officially stupid! I only want 2 more, a 62" one piece, and a 50's recurve if I can find that one. :archer2:
Ferret and Shedrock....your avatar pictures are of mythical proportions.
19? You are THE man! How can you decide which one to take a walk with? Mine is plain but she makes meat and I love that extra mass in the riser. I have a cow tag for rifle but "Rita" will walk with me and I hope to let her put a bh through a cow.
Herb doing OK?
Tim Miegs is turning out his bows still at his age.
I've shot half a dozen of his bows. All have been incredibly nice. There was one with...what I recall was a desert ironwood riser and action boo limbs that I shot far better than my own long bow...consistently. I've never seen or shot a bow that suited me better. I begged my buddy to sell it to me, but he wouldn't- Which I figured, since the bow was marked "To my good friend _____" but I had to try.
He told me Herb would make me one just like it, but I wasn't interested. I'm not convinced any other bow would have the same "mojo" as that one did. Besides, if I'm paying out the cash for a custom bow, I don't want to have one made "just like my buddy's"
Another friend tried, tried, and tried to get Herb to make him a 3 piece out of black micarta, but Herb absolutely refused. That particular buddy of mine can be remarkably stubborn and persuasive, but he lost that one. I guess Herb had tried micarta before, and had a few of them fail. (a small proportional number as I recall, but..perfectionism IS something we all appreciate in a Bowyer...)
Thankfully there's no shortage of wood that he's willing to work with. He's still on my short list, when the day comes that I can afford a custom bow.

Sorry for the poor pics
Herb is doing well, just spoke with him last night.
Notice the "bikini" lines on the longbow second from right? Osage started to darken while my quiver was on. :banghead:
I only have one and I do enjoy it.
Here are a picures of a few of my Pronghorn risers.

Beautiful bow DannyBows!
Now I think I need one in that tiger maple. WOW!
We picked up a Pronghorn for my son last winter. He shot that bow every day this year and by August was beating his old man consistently. Herb builds a sweet bow...one of these days we may have to take a trip up the interstate to visit him.

Man 19 bows. I admire you just for being able to pick one to shoot each day.
My "neversell" is impregnated Hickory with Osage limbs. Wish I was smart enought to post pictures.
Pronghorns must be the only bow I have not tried. Have always liked the looks though.
Someday........
very nice bows gentlemen
Lots of nice Pronghorns here.!
Danny,
That Tiger Maple bow wouldn't be a 60" bow 61# @ 28" would it?
Here is a picture of my wifes curly maple Pronghorn. The limbs are curly maple as well. This bow is just gorgeous out in the sun.

Please pay no attention to the other bow, it is not a pronghorn.
