Anyone use the Centaur razor system or the like? How do you like it? Thanks.

I've got a Grizzly Mfg. unit that  i thought would work well but it was designed more for Planer and Lathe knives and didn't lend itself to Broadheads like i'd hoped. I'm still trying to figure out a way to make a jig for it but no luck yet. I'm not steady enough to free hand sharpen! Ha

I use a paper wheel system from Selway.
works great.  I smear the broadhead bevel with a majic marker to ensure the correct angle.  After a while this isn't necessary, as you get the feeling for correct angle.  From package to scary sharp in 3 minutes.  I timed it.  Jack

Yes, it works beautifully and is much quicker than any other method I've used. For practice, I took an old table knife I found and had it shaving sharp in less than 5 minutes. I then did 15 broadheads and 4 hunting knives in less than an hour. They are all shaving sharp and have polished edges. I highly recommend it.

Centaur's is 1/2 inch wide for concave blades.ABS is 5/8 wide for staighter blades.
Looper x2. I like the KME for a hand held system.

I bought mine at Woodcrafters and I think it's a 5/8" wide. It is a little more difficult to do the concave blade like the Centaur or Simmons heads, but I still got them sharp. I might round one edge over just for those type heads.

I have a Woodcraft paper wheel system that REALLY gets em sharp.  I've thought about trying to sharpen a straight razor with it.

I have the paper wheels. But I am sharpening challenged. I can get things sharp with the wheels but not scary sharp like I like my broadheads to be. For me it all comes down to being able to hold the angle the same on both sides of the blade. Without a guide to hold the angle true (like on my KME) I cannot keep the angle the same on both sides and therefore can't get things as sharp as they should be.

I'm in the process of building a smaller version that I will use a jig to hold the broadheads at the right angle. The first one I'll power with my electric drill and depending on how it works I have a small dc motor I want to use for one that I can use in the field. I've used the big ones for knives and love them but they're just too big for me to feel safe with when using broadheads as well as it is very difficult to get the angles right.
