I drove to my usual hunting spot early yesterday morning. It was so foggy I could barely see ten feet in front of me. I arrived at my parking spot and gathered my gear together. I walked through a marsh in the dense fog to a clearing in the woods. After about 10 minutes of searching for a good tree I climbed up 20 feet. The sun was starting to rise. About a half hour of not seeing any deer I reached for my bleat can. Before I could even grab it a 5 pointer appeared out of the fog. It seemed he would walk out of sight if I didn't do something soon. I blew into my grunt tube and he immediately looked in my direction. About 5 seconds later he started walking off. I quickly grabbed my bow and made a grunt "burp" of my own he froze just long enough to make a 15 yard shot. Without thinking I drew and released. I saw the arrow strike right above the shoulder. He took off. I texted my girlfriend right away. After a few minutes I climbed down. I looked where I shot the arrow and saw no blood. I figured I should wait a few hours before tracking as to not spook him. I drove to my job to tell my coworkers the news. I then drove back to find him. To my amazement I found a blood trail about twenty yards from where he was struck. Thanks to a Woodsman Elite I saw pools of blood that were easy to follow. The trail only went about 75 yards and at the end was my buck piled up. I was so excited I had to tell all my friends. It was a very memorable hunt. I thanked God for the great turnout.
Congratulations!
Pictures sure would be nice! :)
X2
Pics once I figure it out.
Great! I ended up purchasing a Hoyt Buffalo. I almost picked up a Dorado, but the shop sold it before I had a chance. So, I bought the Buffalo off a member here on TG. It's maiden voyage will be Friday night.
Congrats!!
Great job
