Title: Windy tips?
Post by: Rob W. on November 09, 2011, 12:23:00 PM
Got off work early and I'm sitting here trying to decide where to go or just stay home. The wind is blowing over 30mph with higher gusts out of the west. The deer have been moving good as of late. Just can't come up with a plan. What do you guys think? Lower trail in valley blocked by the wind?

If those horny bucks get a whiff a little wind won't deter them. Find the does and you'll find the bucks.

Move slowly at a 45° angle to the wind (they'll either be moving into it or bedded with it at their backs).

Look for a spot where they have good cover but are out of the wind, play the wind and use it to cover your approach. Use your binos to look ahead to pick apart the cover!
