Last week on Nov.1 I saw a really nice buck in this field. He was standing with two doe and from 150 yds you could see good antler. It had snowed Sat. and now by that Thur. temp was almost to 60. Time for a walk up top and work my way down.

Have you ever noticed all the beautiful berries that are out in the fall and most of them you would not want to put in your mouth. Bittersweet on the way up.

Getting into the woods now and there is a swampy section that always has these growing. I call them Winter Berries, not really sure what they are.

These grow in there too. Always called them Bay Berry, but once again not sure. I do know that grouse like them.

I have had you guys up over this point before but this huge Oak had just come down in that snowfall. It is going to make a real good ground blind in the future....

All right,up on top of the first bench and heading west, wind is coming out of the south. We are going to drop down in awhile but need to walk this out just a bit and see what is going on.

Saw one like this further out the bench in mid-October. This is a new one. Hope he feels better...

Time to cut down over, wind is blowing in my face but leaves are like potato chips. Four steps at a time, stop, look, then repeat. Got down into a stand of Pine and this was hard to miss...

My bow riser is almost touching this rub. This is a good one,
This one was 35yds across from it.

So I 4 step down through and manage to spook some doe off to my west. (http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr330/livrht/1103111306.jpg) They head to the east. I wait awhile and continue down over. More sign..
A little further down I come across this nice scrape. Nice dark dirt....

Spooked more doe out when I got into the bottom, darn potato chips, but no buck in tow.
Continued down through some really thick stuff and came out on the tractor path. There were scrapes all over with lots of rubs. It was good sign, but like I said, I am runnin out of time.

These were taken last week. This past Saturday I had a small 6 point in front of me trying to convince a doe she needed him. She didn't think so. The rest of the week has been dry so far.
Hope you all are having the time of your life.It has been a great season for me.
Good Hunting,
Craig
Sat out this morning, mild and a north wind.Started raining around 6:45. Woods were quiet other than the rain and the leaves falling.
Good Hunting,
Craig
Looks like a great spot to be.........
Craig, I always enjoy your walks in the woods, pictures are just great. Thanx.
Craig: Thanks for taking us along. I think those first berries you showed might be highbush cranberry. They're tart, but edible. Grouse love them.
Did you run out of time, get a crack at the big boy, one of the littler ones? Time for an update.
