I heard a ding dong at the door a couple days ago and this thing showed up way earlier than expected. It's a Whippenstick "Hellfire" recurve 62", 62#'s @ 28". Riser woods are Macassar Ebony footed with Wenge with Osage and black glass accents, limbs are boo cores with Zebra wood footed with Macassar and Osage accents. Quiver limb bolts are from Sticshooter.
I've only shot about 3 dozen arrows through it so far and right off the bat I trashed 3 arrows hitting the fletching at 18 yards and I haven't even tuned it yet. It is smoking some 650+ grain arrows and it's really really quiet, enough so I was like "WoW". It only has some very small cat whiskers on it the string came with and it's a endless loop string. I'll be putting a Flemish string on it with some bow hush and very small hush puppies, am guessing from what am hearing now it will be right up there with a long bow. Am truly impressed with this bow so far, excellent craftsmanship, the grip is great(which I was really worried about)It's fast, quiet, feels good and am hitting where am looking with it, what more can ya ask for!
I should add Ken was simply great to work with. Constant communication by phone and emails,he did some extra stuff for me, delivered under schedule and the craftsmanship is up there with my Blacktail. It's always scary to order a custom bow without ever shooting one first even though I've shot his longbows in the past, I couldn't be more pleased with my decision.
