Took this "less than trophy size" deer yesterday while wearing my favorite bowhunting color. RED!!! Nothing like woods full of crimson after the shot:^)

Nice job! Good eating there!
Backstraps are on today's menu.
Congrats!

Congrats Gary,I like your shirt as well!
Mmm, backstraps! Still waiting on this season's first kill. I have one of Mrs. Asbell's wool plaid pullovers on the way, so maybe that'll bring me some luck. Congrats on your deer!
nice deer, nice shooting, and one awesome picture!
Way to go Gary, awesome!
And matching quiver hood !!
Nicely done..
Nice deer should be some great eating. I were flannel when I hunt to. Doesn't have to be camouflage. Just has to break up your pattern.
thats cool. I like how your quiver matches your shirt.
Nice shirt. Used to have a made in USA Pendleton wool shirt that looked much like the one your wearing. Great shirt. I'd like to think it shrunk but the truth is that I "outgrew" it. :D
And congrats on the deer. You have some good eatin' right there.
Thanks. That wool shirt is referred to as "Grousehaven Plaid". Fred Bear wore the same pattern a lot from the mid-50s until he passed away in the late 80s. I believe that's it's been out of production for a long time, but Classic Bowman is resurrecting it for posterity. The guys at Great Northern did the quiver.
Thanks Bradley. The deer traveled 30 yds, max. I've taken a couple of longbeards with my new Tall Tines but this is the first deer. Of course I had a little help from those 300 gr. VPA Terminators.
Plaids are great. I don't think color matters as much as remaining motionless. Congrats on your hunt! :wavey:
I love this... Shows that all the fancy stuff really isnt needed... It's nice to be streamlined, But cool to show that doing it the old fashioned way is awesome. love the quiver too...
Great shirt and Great Trophy to me.
Congratulations!
love the picture! nice job, looks like you put a good shot on her too!
QuoteI like how your quiver matches your shirt.
Me too! thats sick
gun hunters here would nail ya in that red...Im just saying ...camo isw way overrated... :)
Mmmmm! Backstrap, let the feat begin. Nice job! The paid is a nice touch.
Gary,
Congrats on the Doe.! I like the shirt also!
Very nice!
Like the Quiver!
she would be a trophy to me!! Never had the chance to close the deal on a big game yet!! Good for you!
How ear were you for the shot? from the ground or tree?
Congrats on the doe, shirt and quiver.
Red also shows up nice in the picture, a little contrast is good
I'm with you, Gary. Red is my favourite hunting colour as well. Nice job on the outfit, deer and photo.
Love the plaid and the bow Gary. Congrats on some fine table fare.
Congrats, and nice pic.
Congrat's on the doe!
Do you have any info on Classic Bowman? I would like to get one if those shirts.
nice, congrats
Nice pic of you and doe!
That deer looks to be some FINE eating right there!!
Nice shot (and nice image). I like your fletching colors, too.
To answer a couple of questions I shot her at 14 yards from a cedar tree I was perched in about 10 feet off the ground. As to the fletching, I burned those shapes myself based upon an arrow Fred Bear made for me. My arrows are crested in my own design and purchased though "Onestringer Arrow Wraps",a TG sponsor.
I consider my stands nothing more than "elevated blinds" and basically climb into the cover when possible. The Terminator caught her through both lungs, existed the top of the heart, and put down a trail of crimson even I can follow without slowing down or bending over. Of course the fact that I saw her fall within 25-30 yards helped the recovery too:^)
The attention my young doe is getting on here is kind of funny. My good friend Mike Mitten is on another TG thread talking about the two monster bucks he took this week and I'm over here just as proud of the peewee I tagged. For me a lot of the personal satisfaction in taking ANY animal with a bow is affected by the specific circumstances surrounding the hunt. The fact that my daughter bought me the fedora on my head, wearing "Fred's shirt", personal arrows, the nature of the shot, etc. makes the deer even more special. You guys know what I'm talking about.

Yes! Amen! Well said!
Congrats on dinner!
Forget dinner Frank, I just tossed a filet mignon in the skillet, threw on a pinch of Angelo's Steak Pit seasoning - flipped it once, and voila, one quick hi-end LUNCH!
Good work Gary!

What he said.......I have a shirt that I have had for probably 15 years that has a very similar pattern. It's my favorite shirt and I'd love to pick up at least one more.
