Title: First Trad Hunt
Post by: kykiller on November 06, 2011, 10:20:00 AM
Well I have had my Tall Tines for a couple of weeks and have shot every night since TJ helped my get my arrows tuned right.  Most of the practice has been at 7 yards in my garage and main focused on form, but I have got to shoot outside in the mornings before work at about 15 yards, and felt comfortable at that distance if a shot presented itself.  Saturday I climbed in the tree late since I hit the snooze one to many times.  10 minutes after settling in I see a doe appear in the thicket 30 yards away heading my way, then she just turns and goes back down the hill.  I thought oh well maybe next time.  I turn to my left to see a buck comeing through the thicket heading toward her.  Its a 10pt I had already passed on with my compound earlier in the year but with a new trad bow in hand I shot him for sure. He stopped broad side at 15 yds and tempted me for minutes.  The only problem was I only have 1 anterless tag left.  Oh well he should be a stud next year if he makes it the next 3 weekends of gun season.  He is the buck on the left.

Would make a nice deer for your first... but will be interested to see the bruiser you get with your Tall Tines.
