I have a Bob Lee "Hunter" take-down i ordered about 20 years ago and it doesnt seem to have a serial number..could it be located under the limbs maybe?..or is it so old it was before they serialized them?
Hmmmm.... thats a good question.... I really dont know.... My Bob Lee is only 4 years old and has the #s....It might be like the old Bears... Wood color and emblems signify age
Jinkster I have one about that old maybea little less and it doesn't have a serial number anywhere on it,,, its a longbow and it just says classic with the 2-tone riser,,,, always wondered if I could use a FF string on it..

I would be hesitant to use FF string on it as i can recall watching the VCR Tape (lol) instructional video that came with mine and if i recall properly?..the LEE's specifically warned against use of FF strings as the FF strings required use of phenolic/micarta limb tips to keep the FF string from cutting in...they specified B-50 Dacron i believe and I took things a step further by ordering (2) B50 "Flemish Twist" strings..and i like them for 2 reasons as i feel..
1. the flemish twist braided ends act as a shock absorber (so to speak)yeilding less hand shock at the shot and?..
2. I also feel that the girth of the braided string ends buffers limb slap real well and doesnt eat up the string seat/slot (on recurves)
whereas i feel FF on the other hand while maybe gaining a few extra FPS?..is harder on both the bow and the hand.
But that's jmho..i'm in no way shape or form a trad bow guru and my thoughts, feelings and opines could be all wet..but it's just my thoughts/feelings over the years. :)
