Title: Howard Hill 1 of 100
Post by: tenbrook on November 05, 2011, 08:19:00 AM
I am looking to buy a new longbow.

Its a Howard Hill.  The owner tells me the model is called "1 of 100".

Says he owns 3 of em.

I have never heard of nor can I find anything in a google search on this bow.

Anyone have any info on this model?

Thanks

Tenbrook

HH's for many years & never heard of this as a model. Call or e-mail Craig for verification. Sounds like numbering of "specials".

Thats what I was thinking also (# of a special).

But the old timer I have been talking to says it is the model?

I'll call Craig in a few hours.

Usually the model, even on the Limited Editions, is written on the bottom limb. The sequential numbering is on the side of the handle. I have a "Wild Boar" Limited Edition and is this way. #47 of 50 and the date it was produced.

I happen to know that Danny's "Wild Boar" is the only "Wild Boar" made with a sterling silver wild boar on the side. It was special ordered by the original owner. Great bow that shoots better than it looks.

Yeah that is one sweet lookin' Razorback on that Hill.  Such a cool inlay.  That beaver tail grip looks awesome.  Don't see that on Hills too often.  I've been wanting to, but don't have the right bow yet.

As for "1 of 100" I'm new to the Hill game (been a fan for a long time), but have seen no evidence of this series in my research.  I own a Hill LE "Sirocco", #48 of 50.  That is the only writing on the riser.  No draw weight, standard serial number or date.  Sweet shooting bow for sure.

According to Dick Wightman's Hill site (which you all should check out), Craig has not done an LE series of 100.  The LE "Centennial" had only 90 bows available.

If you can get some pics and post them here in this thread.  Personally, I wouldn't buy this bow without seeing pics first and I would want knowledgeable folks to give you an "appraisal" so to speak.  Someone here will know for sure.  Or you could call Craig.

Good luck.

This might be out of line, but years back, didn't pse have a bow made for them by the HH company, and had the numbers 1 of what ever nuber it was through 100?  Seems to me I recall something along those lines somewhere along the mid to late 90's??
I am most sure that they did, because I had #39 of 100 I think it was.  Kicked like a mule.

I don't think it's out of line at all, stringstretcher.  This is an investigation and any lead is a good one right now.  I googled a bunch of stuff about PSE and HHA, but came up with nothing.  Maybe it was another archery company.

I still think pics will solve this the quickest.  In other words . . .

I tried to find it too. I am sure they had one, just don't know when it was.  I know I had my shop when I got mine, and it was in those date lines.
