Early last summer Darryl and I videoed Chad Weaver and Rod Jenkins for Chad's new video. Here is a photo and links for anyone interested. In the outtakes Chad does the splits which is worth the cost of the DVD in itself. :)

Awesome ...
Hopefully i will finally be able to make a string properly !
Rod saw my string attempt when he was here in Oz ... I think he thought it was some kinda fishing lure ...
Ordering mine now !
Well done all round lads !
that vid's gonna be a dandy!
A HUGE "Thank You!" to Rod, Denny, Darryl, and 3 Rivers--this project wouldn't have made it without them.
The quality of the video, the close-ups, etc. are excellent. We didn't mean for this one to replace "Doin' the Twist", as they both have some information you won't find in the other, but I have to say it's a much better quality production.
We had a great time doing it and shooting a few rounds of "rug ball" behind Denny's when it was over. It was a long time coming, but it's finally here!
Chad
Rug ball ?????
I've been making strings for a while but I'm going to order the video today...
With you guys making it the entertainment value will be worth the price, all the information will be appreciated too!
Rug ball is better than 3-D!
Denny and Darryl caught a few "bloopers", and the part at the end wasn't supposed to have made it to the video...I do wish we could have caught Denny's expression on film...priceless....
Chad doing the splits? That is priceless just thinking about it! :scared: :) :biglaugh:
Bill
This sounds like an "I gotta have it" video.
Glad to here that it is available. :notworthy:
As always, if you need any help with either one of them, my contact info. is on the DVD's.
Chad
Almost forgot--along with the much better close-ups of flemish, a lot more time is spent on making endless strings (than in "Doin the Twist"). Rod shows a "trick" that I'd never seen before we filmed that segment. It solved my main problem with making endless loops--I actually learned some things during filming.
Chad
Just ordered a copy 2 minutes ago. Been making strings of both types since about 1972. Don't need the DVD but then didn't need "doin' the twist" either, now have both in my Library. And I can't wait to see Chad doing a split!
I saw chad do a split at ATAR a few years ago. Not for the week of heart.

Kinda amazing and at the same time disturbing ! :bigsmyl:
Ya'll are just jealous 'cause I'm flexible...
We had fun filming, but it does have a ton of serious information for anyone interested in learning to make their own strings, or improving their technique.
Chad
Youre Right Chad!! I couldnt do the Splits to save my Life!! Good for Ya!! I have the 1st Vid you made, NOW I am going to HAVE to Buy the 2nd!! Money WELL Spent Folks!! Easy to Follow, even for a Knuckle-Head :knothead: like Me!! :biglaugh:
Sounds like fun and Rod does make a mean string. Just put my order in.
I got my DVD in the mail yesterday and got the chance to watch it this evening. I've been making my own strings, both Flemish and endless loop, forever, it seems. I thought I knew how to make a string pretty well. After watching this DVD, I found out I had a good grasp of how to make an adequate and functional string—the epitome of mediocrity. :^)
Actually, I knew very little about strings, string materials and how to make a consistent string. Chad and Rod have put together an easy to understand; country laid back, excellent instructional presentation of "how" it should be done—with a lot of humor along the way too.
If you have any desire to learn to make your own strings, or if you're an old-timer (like me) who thought you knew how to do it, you need to see this one. It's very informative, entertaining, and will make a great addition to your archery DVD library.
Ordered my copy evening of Nov 1st. Received it afternoon of Nov 3rd. Watched the entire DVD that evening. :scared:
I bought Doin the twist and my string making skills increased greatly. Can't wait to get the new one.
We really appreciate the good word!
Making strings really isn't that hard at all--the hard part is getting accurate information and instructions, and that's what we tried to supply.
Chad
It's on my Christmas list. Chad is an awesome string maker...PR
Again, Thank You!! Early reviews make me feel really good about this effort.
One thing I learned early on was getting some people to divulge "secrets" was like pulling teeth! I had a lot of help getting where I am with string making, but I have a lot of "hard way" lessons also. And of course most sane people won't ever have the time or drive to put years and years of study into bowstrings, or enjoy it like I do.
Hopefully this will take a lot of the "mystery" out of making strings, and help anyone who is interested add one more step to their hunting experience that was "custom made" by them.
Well, Chad, looks like your "secret" is out. No more winning bets on the splits. haha
Disturbing? You ought to see him do it wearing a backpack on top of a mountain.
Just watched the video. Very nicely done and lots of good information.
Got my copy about a week ago. And I really think I can make a flemish twist with Chads help...Great video.. must have for all string makers....
Chad doing the splits Just WRONG on so many levels.....
I'll order one simply because it's a Traditional Vision Quest production! Great stuff, all of it! :clapper:

No doubt Denny and Darryl's expertise made a big difference in how it turned out--the close-ups and over-all camera work is excellent.
Chad
If we were only going to order one video would you rcommend this one or "Doin the Twist?"
C
Hard call--they both contain information that's not found in the other. "Doin' the Twist" focuses more on flemish, has plans for the stretching jig I use, and demonstrates a timber hitch or bowyer's knot.
How to Builde a Great Bowstring covers flemish, but goes into more detail on endless, and the camera work is much better, especailly the close-ups.
If I had to make a choice, I'd say "How to Build a Great Bowstring", but not by a big margin.
