Hi all: I've been lurking and not posting for a while now but now I have some questions. I will be in Florida from the 4th of Nov for about 2 weeks in the Fort Myers area and am wondering if anyone has any tips on hunting pigs there (where, when, how, etc.) I'll be bringing my Daala. My in laws live there and may have something set up by the time I get there but more info never hurts!
Also, I am getting the WANTS for a Big Jims bow and would like to see, hold, (maybe shoot?) one (or two). I haven't decided on a specific model yet but I do want a 2 PC take down. They seem to have a great rep and are just beautiful (at least to me)
Any one down there have one???
Thanks
T
Go to the tbof.org site and look up David Tetzlaff. He lives in Naples, which is @ 30 minutes from FOrt Myers and he may know of some public land hunting opportunities for you. He is the current president of TBOF.
People think that hogs are just running all over the place here in Florida. In some cases they are, but it is generally on private property where access is limited. There are some pay hunts down here that might e worth your time to look at. Archery Outfitters has always been a big sponsr of TBOF and would be a good start.
If you don't have a thermacell get one

check out the wma's and seasons close to you for public hunting. I'm sure their must be some private ranchers around.
Take a cooler full of ice water and some CHIGGER PROOF fly dope AND a Thermacell. Trust me on the water and Chigger dope, Ok? Corn feeders work well getting hogs within recurve / longbow range. But Chiggers, skeeters and the heat are your biggest concerns. I was in Florida in September, got a hog and had a blast, despite getting my butt handed to me by Chiggers when I was hunting in the Everglades. Check out Archery Outfitters / Nicky Roth, as he has access to 1,246 acres of prime farmland near Arcadia, not that far from where you will be. He is a pro and set up for Trad archery. Spot and stalk or stands over corn feeders (12-20 yards), your choice. These are free range WILD hogs, not fenced in pot belly pigs from Petco like some "Outfitters" offer. Bring razor sharp Magnus or Zwicky 2 or 3 blade cut on impacts, and a 2nd cooler to put your meat in and cover w/ice. I had fun hunting with Archery Outfitters and plan to return in the future.
Thanks for the comebacks guys. I hope to have a story when I return! :-)
