I finally broke down and bought a pullover from Teresa Asbell; it may well be the best piece of hunting clothing that I have. I talked to Teresa on Monday, and on Thursday the package arrived. She was a pleasure to deal with, and the pullover is very well made, and should be deadly quiet. I am about to give it it's maiden voyage this afternoon. She said she sews some luck into each piece, so we shall see if that holds true. BTW, Evening Stand Green looks as good as any camo as far as concealment goes.
I just got mine last week. I agree, may be one of the best purchases I have ever made for hunting clothing.
I got mine ang love it. I had to take mine in to have it resewn because it was comming apart in 3 places. I gess this happens.
I've been able to wear my evening stand brown a few times now and am very pleased with it. It's quiet, warm and I have enough room to wear my KOM Bushman heavy shirt under if need be. Good purchase.
Ironically, some of my friends laughed when I put one of her pullovers on because it was so long. I did, however get a shot at two different deer who never saw me in my "camo" wool. Great purchase. Congratulations.
I have 2 pullovers, 1 vest, 1 double mckinaw, and the wind blocker vest. Even if they were not top drawer, which they are, especially for the price, the conversation with Mrs. Asbell itself would be worth the money. First class all the way
Does anyone know how long it takes to get an order from The Asbells?Reason I'm asking is my wife bought me a Haversack and a bow sock/case on the 16th of this month for my Birthday
and I haven't seen nothing yet...She said she paid with our creditcard and it only charged us for the haversack? When I tryed to call their number on Wednesday the mailbox was full each time I called...It may be because they might be out of town but I was just curious as to how long it takes to get an order..I even tried to email them but the email didn't even go through...Thanks and any help would be appreciated...God Bless, Keefers <><
Teresa had what I wanted in stock. Otherwise, 2 to 4 weeks if she has to sew up a new one.
Here is a pic of me this afternoon waiting for a deer to show up (they didn't). I think it is going to work.....

Thanks Pat and you blend in very nicely...Is that the evening stand green? I like it and you are hard to pic out in that pic..
ok guys where is the link?
I wore my wool hooded pullover from Theresa over a La Clair grey wool shirt this weekend, and it was actually a bit too warm. Georgia was chilly but not really cold, but this was my first chance to wear them together. I used my haversack for the first time as well. All performed well both in terms of quietness and camo effect. I had a yearling doe come up to my stand, actually sniffing the ladder. She looked through me but never spooked at all. (No, she was barely out of spots, so I did not shoot.)
I have several of Theresa's items but have always bought on-site. Therefore, I don't know about wait times, but I do know you will like it when it arrives.
I wore my evening stand green tonight in a big pine...had a spike and 7 does near me most of the evening, they never saw me. GREAT camo!
Robert,
The link is up on this page far left...Just click on the ad...
I plan on getting one for my trip out to Kansas and Nebraska next year. Don't get to wear wool down here in middle ga much...
I received mine the same week when I ordered & yes was great to talk to mrs Asbell too. I got the pullover brown and might finally be cold enough here in Dallas to try it out. Only problem is just realized this weekend is special kids week so will have to wear a blaze orange vest on top
Good stuff for sure.
I'm leaving on my annual whitetail Monday morning so Friday was my last chance to receive anything in the mail.
I was kind of hoping... and lo and behold... there it was... my evening stand green hooded pullover made especially for me in size XXL Tall.
Even though it's not advertised, she has 30 oz. blaze orange. I'm waiting for my blaze orange wool vest to use during gun season.
I love my evening stand brown pullover!!! I also have a mackinaw (in a different pattern) that I ordered a couple of years ago-my wife commandeered the pullover, I got to keep the mackinaw part.
I have two of the pullovers......as for the luck she sews into each one, she must of just started that....LOL :biglaugh: I like them so much that I even wear them out when I'm not hunting. Great stuff, I'll have to get one of the new ones with the luck sewn in!
i really like mine!

I'm thinking about getting one are they lined? If not how are they about stopping the wind?
Wish she made them with zippers-I hate pullovers but love plaid wool.
As bell's are good folk. I have two wools. One is a pull over from down under, and the other is a Royal Marine issued wool cammo. They both are longer than our standard jackets thus keeping those large thigh muscles covered. Thick wool is relatively windproof

No lining.
They sell a windstop undergarmet.
Thanks guys.
I wore this one for the first time yesterday morning and shot my biggest buck.

I love my Asbell wool. Nice buck Bicster!
Centaur, what pattern is that? That looks awesome...blends right in!
They're pretty nice. . . . !
Mine is a bit of a custom job, not exactly standard. Hoping it gets cold here cause I can't wait to wear it.

My wife said " the wool is felted". Not knowing what that means, I gave her a (my typical) dull look and she said that somewhere along the line it was washed and pre-shrunk so it is tighter and thicker and less likely to let wind thru.
I don't know if that is true, just her thoughts, but it sure seemed true by looking and feeling.
I like it !

I like this kinda pattern. There are vertical and horizontal lines. Depending on how you hold your tongue is how you see it. Squint your eyes and look at the verticals in my pic and see it change.
And note, I am in mixed sun and shade, it sure doesn't shine all over the place in the sun.

Covey, it is Evening Stand Green. It worked pretty well this morning, though, I had 4 does under 20 yards and they never knew I was in the country. They totally looked right through me. Also, snuck up on about 20 turkeys to 10 yards, but they were on the wrong side of the fence. They never saw me, though.
I have a lot of Teresa's wool, this Evening Stand Green is my favorite. I have been wearing it just about every time out this season.....probably 15 hunting days so far,and I have not found the situation where it does NOT blend in. Pines, brush, swamp grass....it seems to blend everywhere. LOVE IT
I think she called mine fall blend. I love Teresa's pullovers. I my have to get one in the green... looks great!

Bought one just for my Colorado elk hunt. Love it!
Charles,
I really like the looks of yours too.Do you remember the pattern name?
Mine is the brown version of Evening Stand. I also have some green from another seamstress that is no longer in business. Both are not only well made, but really good looking pieces of garment as well.

My wife said maybe santa will bring me one. So I guess I'll have to wait & see.
I ordered mine for my moose hunt. I loved it when it was cool enough to wear.

Any idea about chest sizes on the pull overs?
I like the look of them but being on the other side of the pond want to buy right first off.
My chest is 44in and I am 23in across my shoulders, if that helps.
Thanks for all the help.
I wear a 44, and the Large fits very well, with room to put a sweater or similar layering under the jacket.
Gents....love the pictures...really convincing me to order one this fall. With respect, would you tell us what color they are when you post? -Thanks
Update- was cold enought this morning and l love the pattern & was very warm. Cold enought to use the pocket and kept my hands nice and warm. Also had the hood up the whole time to break up my outline. I could still see great w/ hood up and wearing my boonie hat. Might have to buy my dad one for Christmas since they had snow in Philly this weekend
Mine is Montana Magic. I use a 42 coat, the medium I ordered was too tight so I sent it back and ordered a large. Well then the large was too loose so I soaked it in water and threw it in the drier. It shrunk to a perfect fit!
I got an XL and soaked it and dried it. Fits me great. I'm a 46R coat size
I can see what's going to be under everyones Christmas tree this year including mine! :archer:
I have several of T's pullovers. Be sure and get a dark one for blind hunting and the best piece she has is the windstopper vest. A MUST for windy days. Very roomy and comfortable.
Also, the wool ditty bags are great to attach to your Waldrop seat. They come with a shoulder strap but are easily adaptable.
Spoke with Mrs. Asbell this morning. After reading this thread I was not sure I had ordered the correct size. After asking me a few questions she offered to customize my pullover to better fit me. Could not ask for a more pleasant conversation. This is my first pullover but I am sure I will be buying others in the future.
I just GOTTA quit coming here!
You guys went and made me order one of Theresa's pull overs! :biglaugh:
I'll be laughin at the cold from here on out!
Now all I need is something besides them dangone Rubber Attack Boots to put on my feet so's I can hobble after them deer!
Better mind yer matters...she's coming to check out "her" thread now! :)
Saturday evening in my ground blind I had deer approach from the wrong direction putting them about 7 yards away from me. I had very little cover between them and me. I had my evening stand brown on and I was impressed that they all looked right through me. Good Stuff!
I purchased one also, and I like better than any other outerwear tht I own.

Spoke with Theresa yesterday about my order and she is truly a wonderful person to visit with. Asbell's live around an Amish settlement and I work with the Amish here at home so we had quite a bit in common chatting. We have spun and woven, Knitted, crocheted wool here at home for years. I always wear one of my heavy wooly stocking caps for hunting season as well as homespun socks, mittens, etc. so I thought it would be nice to add one of the pullovers into my gear. I have tapered way off of camo over the years as I haven't seen an great advantage to it. Anyway thanks to Theresa.
Already have a hoody in northern lights. Now I just ordered the wind blocker vest. After a weekend of 20-30 mph winds, I know I'm gona need it come December and January
My evening stand brown has become my favorite garment. I just hope she sewed a little extra luck into mine.
Got my Evening Stand Green yesterday and hit the woods with it in the evening. Very warm, almost too warm, anxious to hit the woods with it again on a cold morning. Really like the color and even when sitting in a treestand it is obvious that the pattern will blend in well.
Only thing, I wish I had purchased one without the hoody (Great reason to order another soon) and there is a definate native smell to the wool that while not over powering, it is distracting. Anyone have suggestions for quickly removing or covering the smell? I have some natural pine scent spray that I may try.
Teresa is great and so is her handywork. I will by buying from her again!
