Wanting to know if anyone has tried the stinger or steelforce 4 blade bh's on larger game like elk and, if so, how did they perform? Also, can you tell me what poundage bow you were using with them
Thanks,
Joe

I've used both and they work well. 150 grain each on Stingers and Steelforce.
I killed my elk this year with a 62lb Saluki using the Steelforce and got a complete pass through. The elk was dead and down in less than 10 seconds.
I wish I could have seen what the broadhead looked like after but I never found the arrow.

TTT to see if anyone else has had experience with either of these BH's.
Thanks,
Joe

I've used both Steelforce Phatheads and Stingers on Whitetails. It's a coin toss for deer. Both brought passthru's and quick kills.
It going after elk, the thickness of the Phathead is 2nd to none.
If your plan is to go out and purchase some heads because you own neither, then I'd suggest the Phatheads.
Nick from Steelforce says the Phathead is the head he suggests for African big game. A hunter using a Phathead got a complete passthru on a giraffe, which is next to unheard of. If you can get a passthru on a giraffe, with super thick leather hides and a body like a VW Bug, I think it'd zip thru an elk.

I think either BH would work more than well enough. My dad is a full time meat processor and I don't know how many elk I have helped him cut up. The problems I see with penetrationissues are with dull BH's, light arrows and usually expandables. A good arrow over 600in grains and either one of those BH's and good shot selection and you should see great results. Good luck!

Never shot anything bigger than a whitetail with either and would never shoot the stingers again. Could of just been a bad experience with them but the steelforce has alway peformed flawlessly. Very sharp out of the package and pretty tough. I first used them when I shot wheels and killed over 40 deer with them, than used them for my first few trad deer. 4 blade premiums both in 100 and 125 grains. Great heads, the Stingers were no where near as sharp and did not hold up to shoulder shots or heavy bone hits at all. Shawn

I have killed one elk & 2 caribou with stingers. I have also been on an elk hunt where one was used by hornhunter to kill an elk. They performed flawless. Somewhere on here there is a hornhunter pic with a stinger stuck in the head of a shovel scott tested their toughness on. Maybe we just got lucky? I will use them until they quit making them.

Have only used the Stingers and only on whitetails but have never had a problem with them.Killed a bunch of deer with them and never even broke a bleeder and I can get them sharp.Missed a running fox and hit a rock under the dirt and it only curled the very tip just a little bit which I was able to take out with a file.I like 'em and will keep using them.

ask feretwyo on here he took a awesome elk and mule deer last season and believe he used a stinger on them

I shot a big pig (400lb) with the 150gr Steelforce. It worked great and flew very well.

I have used both while hunting never got a elk with the steelforce but have killed elk with buzzcut stingers. I have also put the stingers to the test wood rock and steel. very good head.

I like the 150 Stingers alot.Broke a rib on entry high and passed through the tough brisket at the botton of a nice buck.Head was undamaged upon recovery.50 # bow drawn 30 inches and CX Heritage 250 with 200 grains total weight up front.50 grain brass insert. They fly very true.Thier reasonably thick and I like the diamond tip alot. The back side of the blade is sharp as well and will help if the arrow stays in the animal and continues to cut as it runs and see/saws back and forth. The ones I have bought have been sharp out of the package.
The Phatheads look nice as far as thickness. They do not have the perfect ratio as far as length to width. But look like a nice and strong head in the 145 Gr. size.
I think both will work fine essentially.

Been using the Magnus Stinger since they came out. I have never hunted elk but they've put down alot of other critters through the years without a single failure. Awesome head can't see me ever changing.
