Will nock collars prevent arrow damage from a Robin Hood with a field point? Thanks, Ron
No.
On my 3D arrows and indoor setup I use knock inserts in my carbon shafts allowing the use of the tiney G knocks. unless hit dead center it will deflect the incomming arrow with no damage to your shaft. Get plenty of broken knocks but they are easily removed, just heat an allen wrench redhot and insert into the broken knock, let it cool then remove, works every time.

No they won't,didn't help on a CE Maxima. It didn't break but did mushroom from the point driving into it.I have hit a couple of nocks on aluminum with uni-bushings.Destroyed the nock but the arrow was ok.Just replaced the nock and went on shooting.
The ones I use work just like JamesV says. Might see them split on a really Hard, right in the middle hit, but anything less than that they deflect the arrow to the side, saving the shaft.
well on my my maxima arrows I use out of my compound I still destroy my arrows even with the nock collars on the shaft if i aim at the nock of the arrow and try to hit it. they look cool but for function alone I personally wouldn't buy them.
I'm uncertain as to whether we're all talking about the same thing when we say "nock collar."
I have used Carbon Express arrows exclusively for years; first the CE 100s and now CE 150 Maximas.
For a time, I used a nock collar that was simply a colored aluminum piece. It was decorative but did little to minimize/eliminate Robin Hoods of which I had many.
Then, I went to G-Nocks and the corresponding G-Nock collar. That was a different story altogether. I have banged nocks again and again and again. Not another Robin Hood. Not one.
I don't expect to see another Robin Hood with my setup. Ever.
So I answer: Yes, they will prevent damage and Robin Hoods.

You talking about an insert , not a collar. Very different things. Collars don't help.
