Second trad deer. First with a recurve. Taken using a Wild Horse Creek Mariah 54". 50 lbs @ 28", GT 3555 with 150 gr. Magnus Stinger.
24 yard shot. Complete pass through stuck in the dirt. She went 50 yards and fell in my tire tracks. Easy to load!!!!
I've resized the photo in Photobucket. It claims to be 640 width in Photobucket but right clicking on the photo says otherwise on this forum. After 15 attempts, I give up.

nice deer! how do you get them to keel over so close to yer car? i need to learn that trick! :D
image looks fine and just the right size, thank you!
sometimes, if you post an image that's too large, and you see it, and you go and fix the image size and then repost it, your pc's memory cache isn't updated an you see the older and larger image while everyone sees the new, resized image. dang computers!!!!!
the trick, in that case, is when you resize the big image to 640 wide, always save it to a new name and use that new name in yer posting. thataway, it'll be a totally new image name and you won't be bringing up the larger cached image's older name.

Over the last couple of seasons, I've passed on several deer and ended up with no meat in the freezer. On another day, I might have passed this guy, but this wasn't his lucky day.
I watched the weather all week and Friday kept looking better and better. All day Thursday was cold, raining and windy. Overnight it calmed down and cleared off; the truck thermometer said 32 when I parked at my spot. I knew it was gonna be a good day. Some travel patterns changed last year and I snuck down to a new ground blind I made this year for the new pattern and a north wind. The first deer showed up about 8:30, several does/fawns and one pretty nice buck, but they were all in the field along the north side of the woods (by one of my tree stands)but way too far out for any shot. A half hour later I caught some movement thru the trees and brush and it turned out to be this guy. He worked his way about 15 yards in front of me and I got the shot just after he started past. He never showed any thought that the boogie man was next to him. The hit was a little high and almost to the fletch, but still left a good trail and I found him in the corn field across the road. Total run was about 80 yds.
Several years ago at Cloverdale, Dean Torges gave me a few trade points. Last year I finally made a special arrow with a self nock and old style cut
fletch and mounted one of those points. I was saving it for a shot from the ground and that is the arrow I used.
Great Northern Critter Gitter, 62" and 51 @ 26; Surewood Fir shaft, Oliver Stacy string, my favorite Teresa Asbell shirt and floppy hat.
Good Hunting! Rick

That buck ain't fittin' in that Jeep!
Thanks! It is my older brothers Jeep. He wanted to get the "Bowhunter" that is on the hood in the picture but he was having a hard time getting the pic with my cell phone. The deer was moved 3 times into different vehicles before it made it to the locker because I don't own a truck! It was my lucky day I guess.
back up
I got this really old buck on Nov. 18. He was cruising looking for does and I made what I thought was a perfect shot, just a couple inches to the side of the crease of the leg at a slightly downward angle. He busted out on a short sprint of about 30 yards and stopped. Thinking he would just fall over in a few seconds I watched him just slowly walk away. I could see him for about 100 yards, then he went over a steep bank out of sight.Beginning to wonder about my shot I stayed in my stand for 3 hours. After getting down I went back and got a friend and we started to search for him. After getting to the bottom of the steep bank the blood trail disappeared. We combed that hollow for 2 more hours with not a bit of luck. After going back to the house and getting something to eat I went back by myself and started searching the whole area. I would go aways and sit down with binoculars and comb the whole area then move on. After 2 hours of this I went back and started over. I went up hill a little bit from where we were looking and found his bed. Blood led from his bed for about 50 yards and I found him in a downed treetop. He probably made it about 500 yards total and the shot was exactly where I thought.I could not have placed the arrow any better. Talk about one tough old guy. First off congrats to everyone!
