Title: East Texas Hog
Post by: daveycrockett on October 24, 2011, 12:19:00 AM
Ain't got to hunt much this year. Seen only a couple does,it's slow! Went today and at 5 this evening this bugger showed up. 1st shot was a tad high. Gave him as long as I could stand it and followed up. At 5:45 I lost him in a pine jungle. Too thick to even think of drawing or shooting my bow. I laid the bow down and continued on, MISTAKE! I found him when he came charging out of a briar thicket at 6 or 7 yds.I yelled some bleeping words and started running, sidestepped and he went right past me! Went around the jungle then back into it to get my bow. Went back around and he was standing where the action had happened. No shot, too thick. He laid down and was picking his head up every so often and kinda moaning then his head would just fall. About the third time he did this I could make out how he was laying,15 or so yds. away. There was a softball size hole thru the brush, he raised up again and I'll forever remember the slo-mo spin of the fletch going thru that hole into the armpit, money shot! He never got out of that bed, raised up and fell over. First time of all the Hogs thru the years that one tried and nearly got me. The top hole was first shot, bottom was second shot. Bow was a 60@30 ACS shooting a carbon with the 200 gr. 2-blade VPA head.My oldest Son was interested in his cutters, the Little one is my little Angel.
