Title: SBD strings
Post by: acollins on October 23, 2011, 07:55:00 PM
Are SBD strings safe to use on bows that are not made for FF strings.  I ordered one for my 1977 Damon Howatt Hunter 42@28 62"  but then read where they are FF only.  My bow is not FF.

It is not recomended to use a FF type string on a non FF rated bow.I would get a dacron string for your bow,it's safe and will do fine.

The SBD strings are fast flight, they use BCY D-10 fastflight material. I wouldn't use on a bow that didn't have the tips reenforced for FF. They are great strings (quiet and fast as advertised)I've bought and used 4 of them.

No way.  Made that mistake once before I knew what fast flight was.  Sheared the tips off the bow after a while!

For FF bows, SBD strings are awesome!

Ok thanks just emailed Pierre about cancelling my order. Can someone give me the name a a good string maker that would make one to work on my bow. From what i have read a dacron flemish twist string would work good. Is this correct. How are the strings from 3Rivers.

acollins, if it's too late to cancel that order let me know and I'll take it at full price (but not 2x shipping). That's what I need for my 62" Lost Creek. I already have 2 on order from SBD, but shelf life on a bow string is probably longer than mine and I'll probably live long enough to use it eventually.
