Friday evening about 6:30 had this buck come in along with a small raccoon and two other smaller bucks. Shot him thru both lungs with a VPA bh arrow which fell out when he took a step. The Trad-Lite arrow weighted 570 grains going about 140 fps out of a 47#@28" longbow. Guessing the buck weighted about 85 lbs field dressed. Found him about 90 yards from where he was hit.
I got these photos before it got too late. The blood on his side is where the VPA exited. Shot distance was about 10 yards.
Not bad for a young 72 year old? Ken Denton (http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z318/arrow39/20111021006.jpg) (http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z318/arrow39/20111021003.jpg)

Looks like you put that VPA where it needed to be to get the job done! Congrats!
Congrats Ken on taking a nice Buck. And the fact that you are still at it at 72 years young. It certainly gives us younger fellows inspiration to look to, when we approach(Lord willing) that age. Thanks for sharing.

Congrats on the deer. Your story made me think of the two year chase I've been on. I named the buck I'm after "The Coonster" he usually has a coon along with him for the picture. (http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h58/buckvalley/buckyjr.jpg)
Great shot  Congrats!!
That's a beauty!! Congrats! :clapper: :clapper:
Very nice!!
Good job Ken!
Nice buck and a great shot. What size was that VPA?
It is one of the older ones(200 grain glue on) with a 75 grain steel adaptor. My black Trad-Lite 29" arrows weight 300 grains and with the BH/adaptor comes up to 575 grains approx. Weight forward is very good which makes for great penetration in a 47# bow. About a 12 gpi.
Most of my Trad-Lite weight 300 grains and Carbon express about 320 without points so I adjust the steel adaptors to fit which total weight I want. This is with the 15 grain alum. adaptor. The Vps is easy to sharpen and I put Chap-stick on the edges. Ken
