So, I was building a big duck blind for myself later this year the last couple of days out of scrap lumber I have pieced together from around the farm.
Well, I was tired and I didn't feel like waking up the next morning at 5:45am and go hunting. I decided, when I turned off the alarm clock, that I was going to hunt the evening.
Little did I know that a stranger that's not been seen on the property was going to pay a visit to my "doe" stand. With rut picking up it makes sense why he showed up to the ladys' area of the property.
I was both excited AND pissed when I checked the camera at noon. I don't usually see bucks with a wide spread like this guy on the farm. Most bucks I have seen through the years have narrow and tall racks. I'm hoping this guy sires some youngin's before I see him in the woods.
I'm going out in the morning to try to call him in with some sexy doe estrus bleating.

He sure is purity! Hope you and he can meet up real soon!
Nice buck. I saw a spot just behind his shoulder that looked like it needed to be poked with a sharp broadhead. Best of luck to you.

Wow...... I can imagine the feeling..... well at least you know they are there....
Thats a good looking deer bud!! Love the 2nd pic of him, now get out there and get him!
Go get him, and post the pics when you do. Good luck!
Ouch that hurts!
He's a nice looking buck. Since you're going out tomorrow morning, don't forget to make a report. Hopefully, he'll return and you'll get a shot at him.
Man he looks like the cover of a magazine.
It's as if he knew you werent going to be there!? It's a conspiracy!! Bet you won't do that again!!?
High, wide and handsome!
Now you won't have nearly as much trouble getting up huh?
Good hunting!
God bless,Mudd
boy thats a kick in the head isnt it...good luck gettin after him
Been there... Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Don't want to over-hunt an area, but the days I don't show up are the days the bucks do. Good luck!
Thanks for the reminder Lee...
Alarm went off at 4:15 this morning and I never remember hearing it... wife wakes me an hour later and it's too late to go to my intended spot... bummer...
Wonder what walked by today... oh well, there's always tomorrow...

Very nice buck indeed!
Nice buck :archer:
Yup, that is a bit of a punch in the gut!!
God Bless,
Nathan
Boooooo, I sat out there for seven hours today and all I saw were four doe and a button buck.
I missed the only doe that came near enough without branches and river cane in the way. I shot high and she ducked when she heard my bow and the arrow sailed right over her shoulder. She knew I was there and was trying to walk away slowly.
I checked the camera before I left the mountains and there was a buck there last night. It's a different one, but another good one.
I think my Imperial clover food plots around the creek are helping bring them in to eat, finally.
The bad news is that muzzleloader opened today. So, now all of the local rednecks are parking along the dirt road all around our property to walk off into the national forest. It bums me out. I wish they would hunt on the other side of the ridge and give our farm some breathing room.
There are two deer run areas along some ravines where whitetail will enter our property, and these guys will park their trucks on the road and hunt near them. I wish I could just call a tow truck and have their vehicles moved. They block one side of the road and it's annoying.
It used to be a little better when they simply stayed at a couple of camps off in the woods.
Good luck on getting him. Those big ones are always where you aren't.

They have seen it all; rednecks hanging from trees, pissing in streams and throwing out corn. Can't trick them. Just have to be at the right place at the right time when they slip up and are distracted by the scent of a woman.
That's why they get big
