Title: Help with riser wood combo!
Post by: olddogrib on October 21, 2011, 10:05:00 AM
Gonna treat myself to a new Morrison Cheyenne riser after the season ends.  Would anyone who has a Maccassar Ebony and Zebrawood riser post a pic or two?  I'm partial to Ebony/Bocote, but understand that other woods are more stable than bocote and it can swell over time and need to be resanded to eliminate the offset.  The limbs are medium honey-stained bamboo and I'm loooking for a light tan/beige wood.  The ebony is a given.  Thanks!

Great bow choice you won't be disappointed. I would however highly recommend you go with foam core limbs.

Here is my Bocote/Ebony riser.

Here is a macassar ebony and zebra Morrison Shawnee.  That was a hard one to let go!  Awesome wood combo!

This is a combination that closely matches the description you are giving. It is Koa and Macassar and tiger wood. I have built many risers with the tiger wood and macassar combination and it is a very classic look. The reds of the tigerwood match in very closely with the lighter colors in the Macassar.
God bless you, Steve
