I'm considering the purchase of another recurve. I'd sold all my trad stuff and would like to get back into it. However, I prefer to physically put my hands on a bow, before I make the purchase. Fit and feel is very important to me. I've been to 3 Rivers, in Ashley, IN.
Definately a T/D recurve...no one piece bows. Also, either a metalic or wood riser (with an undersized grip, 62" or longer and a preference of 45#, but would consider 50# if the draw is smooth and it doesn't stack.
I've had my eye on a Quinn Stallion, but have yet to physically see/handle one. Even so, the reviews have been excellent.
Where do you guys shop for recurves?
Thank you, Bowhunter57
you can shop by Zipper and Morrison both sponsor here. :bigsmyl:
you might want to look at a hoyt takedown. The fred eichler signature is a nice bow, two of my friends have them and are very happy with them. I know they sell them at woodbury outfitters in coshocton, that might be pretty far for you but any hoyt dealer should have one I would think. Good luck!
Like our friend from Italy said, if you are looking for the cream of the crop, stop by either Zipper or Morrison.
also Asimheimer ( well you know what I mean ) he's also from Ohio - lots of good bowyers in Ohio
I'm in the Toledo area. PM me if you want to try a Quinn Stallion.
Go see Brandon at Roseoak, he is in NW OH and his bows are some of the very best............

wahoo,
Don Assenheimer lives about an hour east of me and I've owned 2 of his bows. Very nice, but I'd prefer a thinner grip, as most of his bows tend to have a full sized grip.
Mick,
PM sent. I'd definately like to see your Quinn Stallion.
hvyhitter,
Brandon Stahl's bows appear to be of very high quality, but the price reflects that too. Thanks for the tip, but I'll pass.

All of the above and the Trad Gang classifieds.
Not sure if Donnie Assenheimer is taking orders again or not. He had some health issues and had put things on hold a while back.
There are a bajillion bowyers in Ohio now, every tradionalist I talk to are building bows.
I'm with Hvyhitter. Hap
Zipper gets my vote. I already own 2 of them. Would be hard to top the customer service of Bill and Tracy Dunn. :notworthy:
Bill
Lewis Hollow Archery is in Ohio he has a try before you buy program. I have one of his three pc recurves and I have longbow limbs for it too. His name is Chris sparks and he is a really nice guy, and does great work

Blackstick,
You are correct, sir. www.gnbco.com/expo.htm (http://www.gnbco.com/expo.htm)
I've been there and it's a great show! I met Fred Asbel, Jerry Hill and the Wensel brothers, while I was there.

Better not go to Zanesville
Agree definately with going to Kalamazoo in January. Worth the drive. You can try out a bunch of different bows. Takes a lot of guesswork out of your bow buying/ordering decision. Went to the show 2 yrs ago with a mind set to order one brand and ended up trying many and ended up ordering a Zipper. Made in Southwestern Ohio. Great experience. Link to the bow I decided on: http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=31;t=000907
Give Bill and Tracy at "Zipper" a call. You will be hard pressed to find better!
