Title: elite or original woodsman
Post by: B-DOG on October 17, 2011, 09:25:00 AM
decide to get some woodsmans. what is the differance in the elite and the original? i need to end up with 200 gr. i know how to use the adaptors on the glue ons to get the weight i want. i can get 200 gr in elite but they are twice the price. are they worth the differance?  what about the unvented? are they quieter?

I have shot both heads and believe the Elite line are significantly better quality - particularly the screw-in model, as they are one piece machined steel that come very, very sharp right out of the box and are easy to simply "touch up" after practice. With that said, the glue-on models are probably a wash. You will just need to do some bastard file work when they arrive.

I like the ventless Elite 160s for their quietness.  Very well built head, as they should be for that price.

If you check the specs, the elites are a bit harder, so should hold an edge a bit better. Of course you're going to re-sharpen after each shot in the field, so that may be of minor importance. I just like to think the elite might do a bit more slicing after striking a bone

While th ELITE is no doubt a better head, the original head has been killing A LOT of stuff for a LONG time.

I bought the original design preferring to buy 6 instead of 3 for about the same cost.

Just my opinion though.
