Went calling today . The coyotes did not want to play and the rabbits and ground squirrels did not want to sit still. Heres a tree thats only been there about three months . When they planted them there was no squirrels , gassed every hole in the orchard. Big orchard. Can't get rid of them they just keep coming back.

Any way started jumping some quail. Was trying to get them as they was running in front of me maybe tweenty to thirty yards out. This one jumps up and flies strait away from me between the rows of almonds ,I took the shot and some how I hit it.About a 15-20 yard shot. Never did get any running on the ground. Next time taking a bunch of flu flus. This is the only one I shot at in the air.First for me.

That must have been a rush, nice bird.
A bird on the wing is always good! :notworthy:
Great shot. I got two on the wing in one day once. However, I am not certain the two I got on the fly were the ones I was shooting at. I know one was just about the last bird in the covey and I was shooting at the lead bird. It is a good thing that I do not have a lot of quail to hunt. That is all I would hunt if I had the opportunity. I shot a woodcock on the fly once. I was so proud of it that I had it mounted and had the taxidermist cut out the breast for me so I could eat part of it. You mounting it or eating it?
Very awesome, shooting a quail on the wing . Good man

Really cool bow quail! That's instinct all. Well done!
Congratulations!! Hunting birds with a bow is a fantastic challenge and birds on the wing make for a truly magnificent trophy. Way to go
