I have two friends I would like to tempt away from their compounds. We have shared many camps together and they are good people. I have seen the glint in their eyes when I let them shoot my bow when we are togther but they see it as some unattainable thing. I would like to send them some propaganda this winter. What would you send them?
A traditional bowhunter magazine subscription, and depending on your situation offer them a "loaner" trad bow.
Send em a couple bags of your favorite jerky from a recently obtained deer.....
A Black Widow catalog.
Mike I don't need to seen them any more jerky, they both get alot from me. I get to many request anymore. One his kids know me as the jerky guy and the other one I even sent him a half of a deer I jerky for him when he was in Iraq.
I agree with the TBA subscription. That magazine was one of the reasons I got rid of the wheels.

I think that would be a great idea!! I would not include the bow, it's such a personal thing, the one you have may not work for him.
I found tradarchery and trad gang from a TBM found in a seatback pocket years ago on a flight... It is an infectious thing...
Introduce them to Tradgang!
TG is a good tool...........If you have to go further they may not be ready. They gotta' want to do it, or what's the point?
Gotta agree with Bjorn,it's gotta be their decision.
Best Trad hunting video you can find.
The subscription to TBM is a good idea. Also, send him a 3 Rivers or Kustom King catalog, or both.
Most kids are nervous when you take away their training wheels, but once they get the hang of it, they love it and wonder why they stuck to the wheels as long as they did.
*****Subscription to TBM is the best idea IMHO, as previously mentioned.
show them some byron ferguson videos. thats what got me hooked on trad. rv
Another idea would be to give them a membership in PBS. Since it is not strictly a Trad organization they will fit right in even with the wheels. But there are so many Trad shooters that write for the magazine it is bound to rub off.
Best to simply expose them to the magic of the simple bows and legged it develop from within. The TBM subscription is also a great idea.
living in utah it might be a long drive but if you could get then to one of the big traditional events like the Michigan Longbow Invitaional, Compton or Mo-jam. Its hard to resist the call when you are immersed in it
TBM
I would send them this:

+1!
May be the best bow hunt video ever made!
You don't need to give him propaganda. Just give him a bow to shoot.... :archer2:
Have you got the Masters of the Barebow videos or Rick Welch's videos to show how good a person can get by dedicating themselves?
Thanks for the ideas everyone. I have thought of the TBM before and may be the best route. I have thought of the bow thing too. One of them his dad made a Bingham recurve up years ago that he has always admired. I might just have to make some arrows for his dads bow this winter. The other one I have offer more than once my gamemaster to but I think he still has fears learning to shoot traditional gear good. Even thou we all know it's not as hard as it looks. I think the seed has been already planted with him after the text I got last night " I had a big 6x6 bull within longbow range but no clear shoot!".
Honestly I don't really care what they choose to shoot but I would like them to know the passion that traditional gear can burn into our souls.
Introduce them to the Trad Gang web-site.
