I have two hunts left on my bucket list that think I'm in or can get into shape to make it doable..
One is one last Black Bear hunt and the other is a Moose hunt and I think the Moose should be the first I attempt as I'm not getting younger and tromping through swampy brush ain't for old folks..
I want to keep it in the lower 48 if possible because I want to drive from Texas and be able to bring back the meat.. I wouldn't mind a bull but I'd be happy with a cow as it is the wilderness experience as much as the meat I'm after with this hunt. I wouldn't have the antlers mounted anyway.. No place to hang them and limited funds so I rather spend the money on the hunt than on a trophy that would end up in a corner of the garage and sold or given away when I'm dead..
What say y'all... where should I start looking... this would be for the 2012 season..
I'd probably start looking at trying to get a cow shiras moose tag in one of the western states. I'd look at Wyoming first. Great chance to draw a cow tag. Good luck!
New Zealand Red Stag for me.
A whitetail hunt and a javalina hunt for me.
A Kodiak Bear Hunt!! Hey, Go BIG or Stay at Home, Right?
Antelope, elk and hogs.
Over&under you're welcome to come hunt whitetails with me any time.
We are blessed with a lot of great public ground that has a fairly good herd of whitetails plus an abundance of turkey and squirrel.
God bless,Mudd
Been on a hog, Elk, mid west deer, and a Bear hunt in Canada........haven't scored on any and would do any one of them again. Heck I'd be happy to get a deer or bear right at home. I guess every time I go in the woods it's like a bucket list hunt!! :dunno: I would try to find the easiest moose tag to get and start from there.
Desert Bighorn Sheep
Mountain Goat
Take my son on another couple of Elk Hunts-maybe Moose-whatever we can draw tags for.
So far I'm thinking Maine might be my best shot..
Maine is a great place to hunt either--moose tags are near impossible to come by, but bear hunting doesn't get any better than with Eldon Jandreau at Hunters Point Guide Service in Portage. He is a terrific guy and hunts strictly with a longbow and loves having trad guys up to hunt. He also has a phenomenal success rate on moose IF you can get a tag.
elk or moose. the 2 hunts i want to go on the most. wouldnt mind a spot and stalk black bear hunt ethier
The hunts I want to do before I die are Elk, Big Horn Sheep and Bear.
Antelope were on my bucket list and all I want is to go again!!!!
Want to get a Moose right here in my backyard. Still working on it!! Bob
Moose and another bear or 2
Would like to try to call in a brown bear and try for some wolfs. Mt lion also. No dogs just hand calls.
Moose is top of the list for me. Always wanted to hunt water buffalo in Australia, but don't see that happening the way things are going.
ive never been on a hunt before but here are a few i want to go on blacktail deer, black bear(spot and stalk), and hogs all in my homestate of california,
Cape Buff, on the ground, with a longbow.
1. Montana's Milk River for Whitetails
2. Quebec's labrador caribou
3. Sitka Blacktails on Kodiak Island
4. Elk anywhere
5. Rocky Mountain Bighorn (pipe dream)
6. I want to fill all my doe tags in one outing.
Alaskan moose
Kansas whitetail
Colorado elk
I would love to shoot a Australian buffalo!
I've always wanted a Roosevelt Elk. Now I think any elk would do. :notworthy:
A Michigan elk
Elk anywhere
Idaho and Alaskan bear
Asiatic Buffalo in Australia, Yukon Moose, Hogs down under, any hunt someone else wants to pay for...lol
Alaskan Moose and New Zealand Red Stag. Some day.
I really want to go on an elk hunt with my dad, he is not a traditional guy, but i think we could let that slide, I would be hunting with my recurve.
Hope to get at it pretty soon, cause im not getting any younger, and neither is my dad. We may get to go bear hunting in the spring, which would be awesome also, because neither of use have ever killed any other big game other than a whitetail deer.
I think that Idaho and Wyoming would be a great start for the moose tag, they both have good odds. Idaho is a easy one for a black bear tag.
I view my bucket list like I do good art, Good art is never finished but is always a work in progress.
Bucket list hunts:
1- Mule deer
2- Caribou
3- Mtn Lion (with dogs cause I'm an old coon hunter)
4- Black Bear
Now trophies are as follows:
Really nice whitetail, mule deer, bear are priorities.
The thing about a bucket list is that unless you set a date, establish a budget, start planning the details, and commit to doing it, hunts on the list never get checked off the list: They do not just happen!
My advise of to quit wishing that your dream hunt will happen and MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Mule deer buck hunt and.........."harvest". :D
Australian water buffalo and hog hunt.
Elk anywhere out west.
Hog hunt with Ray in SC.
:clapper: What Walt said! :clapper:
Bill
Do them now while you're young and in good health because if you wait until you can afford them; odds are you won't be able to make the hunt physically..
Even though I've killed my share and more of animals across the country I will go to my grave regretting the decision to wait on Alaskan Brown Bear, Dall Ram, Moose and Caribou. When I was much younger and able to physically do the hunts I thought I had plenty of time.... Well time caught up and I will never do those hunts..
Walt is "on the money" with his coment. Make your plan and start saving. It may be 5 years before you can make it happen but that time will come. Get your preference points in (if needed) do your research then work your plan.
My top two are cape buffalo and moose. I plan on both in the next 5 years....moose next year!
BROWN BEAR
Let me know when you might want to try that moose hunt and if you want a pardner. I think I would like to hunt one of those too.
One of my bucket list hunts is coming in May of next year, a black bear hunt in Alberta with my son and his girlfriend. My wife is going to but only as our camerawoman.
great advice Walt.
Being that I haven't killed anything with Traditional equipment I have long list. Would like to one day take at lest one of every legal animal in the U.S.
Guess I should add what is still on my list: Alaskan Moose again (next fall), Alaskan Brow Bear again (in 2 1/2 years), Mountain Goat again (should be getting close to drawing with 12 preference points next year  ). In case you are wondering, all of my hunts are self guided, self planned, and I'm lucky enough to have a brother living in Alaska so I don't need to hire a guide for brown bear.
Notice, the dates are set, and the DATES DO NOT CHANGE.
I've enjoyed reading about y'all bucket lists and all the advice on how I should plan and save.... But all I asked was...

My time for saving and planning is pretty much over because of my age and medical issues. I would like to do these last two hunts while I still can... if I can't I'll take the pleasures and memories of all the hunts I have done... drop camps, backpack hunts, horseback and campfires shared with close friends and strangers who became friends before the fires died out... happily to my grave..
Thanks...
A whitetail hunt in montana hopefully in two years
Merriam's turkey hunt in Nebraska. I'm going in 3 years or less. Boy will that make for some great video!
ttt
Any Elk hunt or bear hunt.
Javi, if I were you, I would start a new thread entitled, "How can I make this Happen?"
Your original text would then stand clear in its intent.
