Title: Compton Traditional Bowhuntes Spreads Its Wings
Post by: Whip on October 13, 2011, 11:30:00 PM
Compton Traditional Bowhunters is teaming up with Allsouth Archery Association for our first Compton satellite shoot.  This will be held at Tannehill State Park in Alabama February 24-26, 2012.

The Berrien Springs Compton rendezvous will continue as the flagship Compton event.  The board of Compton has been working hard to add additional events in other parts of the country, and we are very excited to have this finally coming to fruition.

Details are still being finalized, and will be updated in the Trad Events forum here.

One of the most frequent comments we have heard from people is that they wanted to see Compton truly become a nationally recognized traditional bowhunting organization.  We really feel that this is a great step in that direction.

That would be great Don!  One of the things I need to work on will be trying to line up some volunteers for some help with at the event.  Not sure just what that may involve at this point, but we want to make sure that any who do help still have plenty of time to enjoy the event itself.

If anyone has interest in becoming involved please let me know!  Even an hour or two would be a great help.

If Don and Skyler are in for you, you know you'll have a good start. They do an awesome job for the St Jude auction every year ...

Terry Harris will be handling the vendors.  There is not going to be a big vendor tent (at least for this next year), so you would need your own set up.  But the space is free, so the price is right!

Great news Whip   :clapper:   !  And I know Terry is "the man" to assist in getting it started in the right direction.  I attended the Howard Hill Southeast Classic (Tannehill) for the first time this year (June and HOT) and was truly impressed with the whole operation.  I will be looking to attend if possible if my work and travel schedule allows.

I sure would like to see that Tim.  The hope with these satellite shoots.is to eventually have them scattered throughout the country so that a Compton event can be within an easy drive of just about everyone.

The key is to find local partners with the manpower and a facility to host an event.  We have developed an application form and process for groups that might be interested in a Compton satellite shoot.

I am excited to see growth.  This will allow more archers to attend shoots, they would not otherwise be able to do, and be a part of the traditional experience.
Congratulations on the decision, and kudo for all the planning and hard work to make this happen.

Ken, Get in touch with Terry Harris for vendor info if you haven't already.

L.R. - plenty of lodging very close to the park (and of course camping right on site)

Take a look at this thread in the Trad Events forum for a list of motels very close by along with phone numbers.
