I just traded for a kodiak magnumit is very old with the green and white inlay on the riser and the limb tips its 40# and my question is it has a star stamped on the riser what does this mean?
not sure at all but the guy i got it from said it was a 1954 but im not real sure about that..
I do know its older than any kodiak magnum I have ever had..
61 was the first year of the kodiak mag.It sounds like a 61,but with out pictures its hard to tell.61 and 62 had alot of k mags with the star stamp on them.
K mags came out in the early 60's, maybe 61 or 62?
it has the aluminum coin
Raised or flush with the riser?
flush
I have mostly read that left over bows from the previous model year were marked with a star stamp and sold at a discount. I have owned several star stamped Bear bows from the early sixties.
The Bear salesman carried a star stamper as part of his kit. And yes they were discounted and could well have been extras from the prior year.
Bows were not typically refinished as that would be too much work, they were replaced and the defective ones burned.
Does it look like one of these?

Jack, if those are all yours, you need an intervention! :bigsmyl:
montery, those are just the Kodiak Mags. Jack didn't stop there I don't think.... ;)
monterey,
Actually, I'm getting better. I had more Magnums but have sold off a few so I could purchase other models.
I understand, I have the same problem with milsurps. :D
