Well it has been raining all day here in Penna.
I thought it would be a good time to do a walkabout of yesterdays journey. We are going to head out the first bench and see what things look like. This sign post was at the bottom of the point that I was about to climb up over. It looks like someone is hitting it already.

This log was covered with the deepest green moss you could imagine, just thought it looked cool.

They look like some cool woods to hunt. Nice pics.
Went a little further up and stopped and rattled. There is a bedding area just down over the bench. Thought maybe I could get someone interested but not today.
Went a little further out and came across my first scrape of the season.

Hey Craig, glad to see some activity. Is that up on Montour Ridge?
While I was heading over to that rub I came across this a few yards in front of it. He's heading east to west.

Looks like a good spot to hang around.......
It was really good to see these scrapes opened up and I was glad that I had chosen to do a little walking instead of sitting. I really wish I could have watched him come in and work this one over. He had the branch cracked and worked over pretty good....

So there you go guys, especially you Penna. hunters,it is starting up. I hunted last evening also and had a serious stare down with a nice fat 6-point at 10 yards. I hunt the ground and just did not have the opportunity to draw the bow.
Maybe tommorrow.......

Now if we could just get a few good days of weather, cool temps, and less than a full moon we can let the games begin, nice pics Craig. tm
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Tom, and the rest of you also. I took them with my phone, leaves a little to be desired but gives you an idea. Won't be long now.
Good Hunting,
Craig

Very inspiring! Can't wait to get in the woods this weekend.
Craig, when you were on the walkabout you called me and said you would post the pics. I been waiting and it was worth the wait, VERY nice spider web in the sunlight. You really do a nice job, thank you. We open in NYS on Sat. Hope to be in the woods a lot next week. Going to hunt the ground this yr a lot. Got my Pacseat and leafy suit ready and tested. Thanx for pumping me up more than I already am. Wish NYS would come to its senses and open season Oct. 1st.
