Ok I was thinking that instead of waiting till the end of December to plan the hunt for the Jersey winter bow., That at the last minute some of us can not make it. So I propose that we make a date, so that some of us southern NJ boys could plan ahead and maybe get a car pool going. The past few years I had wanted to go but late planning made it imposible.

I am in Ocean Couinty and bow hunt Stokes State Forest during winter bow. I would like to hook up with some other NJ Tradgangers. The third week of january I am going to Bob Wesley's school and then Ray Hammond's for some pork. I wouldn't be able to make the weekends from 1/14/2012 - 1/22/2012. Other than that I am good to go.

Tajue When we started this it was open to anyone so yes you are welcome. We hunt public lands and do some small deer drives. It's a good time and a good chance to meet some good friends. I'm sorry that I missed out last winter bow.

Well, I saw one request for 3rd week of Jan. I always thought we tried to do the firs few Sat. of Jan., so I'm up for any of it. Love to do the mine rd spots. Stokes is cool too. Let's get another big group like a few years back. All out of staters welcome. Heck, I'm from across the river.

I'd be interested. All I need is over a week notice. I haven't been going because it's too cold to be riding my bike far in Jan, and not at all if the roads are slick. I'd rent a car for it though. I'm in central Jersey, so I can go North as easy as South. I missed all the shoots this year and would like to meet some TradGangers.

I wouldn't  mind getting in on this as well lets see what gives and try it out.I'm a Pa. boy but hunt NJ. in Huterdon Co.

Ok sounds like there is interest now we have to pick a location and a date. All winter bow zones in the state are open Jan.1st 2012(need 2012 license),out of state licence is $135.50 ( comes with an autographed picture of Snookie)You must bring proof of your state licence or a hunter education course ( NJFishandWildlife.com)You may be able to purchase it on line.

 If we can get an Idea of where the majority of people live(south,central,or north Jersey)we can plan it so no one has a haul to get there, and some may be able to car pool.And help some out of staters with directions.

 As far as breakfast, we can decide later as to where to eat and meet. So If you are in please list what location you live in Jersey (N,C,S) and a prefered date(first week,second week, or third week of Jan). Thanks Tim

I know it might be a little late, but how come this is not done in the early part of the season, like now ?

I'll be up for it though, Danny, you can catch a ride with me if you want.

This is early planning compared to the normal planning around the end of November.And some guys dont like the heat and bugs in the early season. Heck I thought I had the jump on it asking this early. Maybe next year we can do an early and late season hunt.

I would say I'm like central even though I'm in Pa., just below New Hope. Theres a number of state lands so whoever is the coordinater is would you maybe up for a few suggestions that can be discussed and planed upon. This should be a blast and if snow even better.How will we all stay in touch just keep an eye out in the thread like we have been doing?

I probably wont attend due to the Out of state license cost. Not that its much compared to other states but for me is a lot for a weekend hunt.

I was curious, Do you guys get hotels or camp?

Tim, sounds like more of us PA guys want to go than NJ fellas. I'm sure Tom (Bent pole) will go if he isn't working, Larry will go, I'm in too. In the past we have hunted the areas along the Delaware because it is a big area and we can hop around making several drives through the day. We had so many guys the first few times, the State police still talk about it. It was like an invasion.

Boy do I remember the First NJ Winter Bow...  That other then Family and friends still in Jersey, It's the Winter Trad Deer Bow Hunt is what I miss the Most...

Maybe the 2013 Winter hunt I maybe able to get back Up to join in.

That would be kool, Sam Houston National Forest is Very Big with lots of campsites. W@e could have a good old time in the Archery Only Zones.

Plus there is NO CARDIAC HILLS  to walk up..

YES IT WAS, and I'm glad I walked the rivers edge that day. More so after seeing 2 guys rushed to the Hospital for walking that Hill... J/K..


No one or Animals where hurt that day, But there was a few deer and 1 Bear seen. The Bear was walking 100 yards behind Me as I was walking to meet up with the others.. I heard a noise and looked down the hill I just walked up. There it was popping it's jaws looking at Me.. Way Kool and a good way to get the Heart pumping.

Since it's start, We where doing the hunts in Northwest Jersey (Zone 5, I do believe). It started out as just a few of US Jersey boys wanted to do a day hunt/get together. I think that was only for a few days. With in a week of the first post, We turned it in to a Tri-State hunt (NJ, PA & NY).

Soon We where talking about doing it every Year and other spots. I think it was the 3 time when others came from near by States just south of Jersey, Started coming. Even tho no deer where taken from those hunts, We all had a blast shooting leaves, sticks, dirt and BS'ing with everyone.

I feel it was a great thing to get a face to go with the Cyber names/ID. I made a few Friends on Here after I joined, But made More when We started the NJWBH.

Oh ok I used to hunt zone 8, but I lost the piece. The landowner sold it on me. Now I hunt zones 17 & 18.

We even did a day up in zone 6. Great time with those guys. We saw some deer that day but no shots. Even started snowing too. By the time we finished driving the woods there were several inches of snow on the ground.

Let me know some dates. I can most likely do any weekend except the last 1 in January.

If I'm not working I will be there! We can do Sunday mornings in WMA's  too you know. The Cardiac Hill Drive ALWAYS pushed deer if you remember. The  first time we did it I had that Button Buck practically walk towards me. He  had no clue. I would have taken the shot if I knew where the standers were. Better safe than sorry. The last time we did that drive a few years ago  Alex walked up that mountain in record time. We started the drive and pushed 3 or 4 deer that blew right past him. He didn't have a chance for a shot.

Pat, was there alot of yotez out there? I never hunted it with the guys but plan to this year. I've been looking for a place hunt coyotes this winter maybe I should check those areas out.

Plenty of them. If there is fresh snow on the ground and you can tell they ran through recently, don't waste your time pushing  that ground. Move to another spot.

Its good to see more guys getten on board. But unfortunatley I may not be able to even hunt this season. About three weeks ago I herniated a disk in my Lumbar region(lower back) that has pinched the Sciatic nerve that runs down my left leg. I have been in bed for two weeks and can barely walk farther than 20ft without sitting down. Im noy sure if I should get a shot in the back or surgery. If for the grace of God that this goes away and heals I will be there for sure, if not somebody better lay one down in my name...LOL I will keep yall informed of my situation.

That sucks, Tim. I know you were really hoping to go on this hunt.  Hope that it gets better soon.

Hey guys, i havent made this hunt before but if you are all getting together im in too! Always up for meeting some fellow tradgangers!

I'd love to make it down< im from Staten Island but im sure we can figure something out.

Last weekend coming up! Hope some of you guys can figure it out. Had a small group in central Jersey a couple weeks ago. Good fun.

Im out with a pending back surgery, This is why I started it early cause It always seem to get planned way to late.

 Next will be Whittingham.
