The Colorado Traditional Archer's Society (CTAS) puts on a youth hunt every year (this year we did two) and I was lucky enough to be a mentor for the hunt this past weekend. The hunt is for mule deer does. One deer was killed at the first hunt an none were killed at the hunt I was on. It was tough hunting conditions this past weekend. The cold weather made it hard for the kids to sit long in a blind and the frozen crunchy snow made stalking hard. Still there were a couple shots and several close calls. A good time was had by all and hopefully we have a few more trad hunters among our ranks. Here are a few pics.

 AWESOME!!
Kudos to you and CTAS, Mark!
What a great start for some young folks to be mentored and to realize that "wackin' em" isn't the reality of the hunter but that the natural world is full of hit or miss.
  NICE!!!
You rock, good one on you and the crew. You are a Government employee now...you off today?? :saywhat:
Beautiful country! Thanks for sharing! :wavey:
:archer:
That's great y'all!!
Any venue that gets youngsters into the woods is commendable.

I hope so Joseph. Although a cool picture, I think everybody knows that "busted" feeling.

Just Awesome!!!!!!!!
This is the 13th year that Colorado Traditional Archers Societ (CTAS) has sponsored a traditional archery youth hunt. Here is a photo from the previous week's hunt. The weather was a little nicer that weekend. Thanks to Mark and all of the people who helped with these hunts. Jim (http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd313/jimscol/owendeersm.jpg)

 :clapper:
Well done Mark!!!
This is way to cool, what do you have to do to get involved/help in this hunt?
Joe, I liked that picture too. I saved it. It would make a good screen saver or something.

Adam: We are always looking for people to get involved in the youth hunts. We have our fundraisers for the hunts at the CTAS banquet in Denver in Feb. and at the High Country shoot in June. Jim
This is a very cool deal. My step son Colten was invited on last years hunt. He got his first shot at a big game animal last year. The guys that put this on do a fantastic job! Way to go CTAS!!
Great hunt guys...sounds like the kids got a real taste for what it's all about.
Congrats to all involved and thanks for the hard work!
Good work and fantastic pics.
To cool, I'll have to make a trip to Denver!
