Title: Long recurves... Who makes 'em?
Post by: Blaino on October 09, 2011, 09:01:00 PM
I shoot a 62" one price bow with a 30" draw now. I'm just like must of you and thinking of my next bow all the time.

Who makes one price curves in 64" or 66"?

Don Assenheimer might make a 66". Actually with a 30" draw 62-64" should be plenty. I draw 30 1/2, and shoot 60-64" bows with ease.

Wes Wallace and Blacktail both make 66" length recurves.

I own two 66" Blacktails which you can see in my signature.

Bjorn, I had so little call for one piece curves that I have stopped building them. Kirk sure builds a nice one though and so so does wes. Thanks lots for the reccomendation.

And so does South Cox and Don Assenheimer,. Not sure if RER builds one but if they do it would be a good one.
God bless, Steve

Wes Wallace makes long recurves, as does Kirk.  I have seen a lot of Kirks bows and they are really nice.  I shoot Wallace Royals and can testify to the beauty and quality that he puts into every bow.

Give Bob Roussello At Kohanah a call. He makes recurves 1pc or 3pc at the lengths you are looking for. And he is a real good guy to deal with.

St Joe needs to be on it too. They build a great bow. I knew someone was missing and I am sure there are others . Onepiece is the problem though. A lot of good bowyers have quit building one piece bows. Oh and you could check Legends and Sheepeater bows too.

God bless you and good luck, Steve

my draw isn't a problem.  i just like odd ball things and one peice curves over 64" are hard to find.

Breaking it down further, both Wes Wallace and Blacktail come in 66" one piece and/or take down recurves.

The wait is shorter for a Wes Wallace than it is for a Blacktail. Something to consider.

Regarding a long one piece recurve.

If you like wood AND love looks... Check out a Rose Oak!

Here is a link to his Wildcat Recurve page. He is also a sponsor on TG.

Blaino, I know you want a one-piece, but if you want to come in on the low end, just to see what the length does for you, you might consider Samick.  I bought my wife a 66" Samick Polaris from Lancaster for a hundred and twenty bucks.  She shoots it very well and I think it represents a lot of value for the money.  Replacement limbs are cheap.  Several guys are putting heavier limbs, (Samick Sage), on that long, Polaris riser and coming up with a long, powerful recurve.  Just a thought....
