I just traded for a 58". 52#@28" bow. What arrow spine should I look at and what are your general impressions of your bows.
Thanks

Ask one of my Huntin' Partners= BUCKY. He liked his so much he has 2 now. What arrows do you want to shoot out of her? Wood, Aluminum,or Carbon? He has a 26" draw length. BUCKY shoots carbons. He cuts his Gold Tips to 27"'s I believe. He Loads up the front end with 300 gns. By the way I shot a lot of bows. I really like the way his Kanati shoots. Jason makes a great bow. As far as short hybrid longbows go. Jason really nailed his with his design! :archer:

The Kanatis are super bows! I have owned a few and loved them all! Great bows. I shoot the same spine range as the bows draw weight. So for your bow I would shoot a 50-55.

Forgot to mention :knothead: He shoots >>>>~~~~~>35/55 Gold Tips :archer2:

Thanks for the kind words guys!
I shoot about the same weight with a 28" draw, it's right on the fence for me between 1916's and 2016's, I use 125g heads on the 1916 but on the 2016's I have to add a little tip weight for a perfect bareshaft flight.

Kanatis are very forgiving of spine. You can get by with a pretty wide range of spine and arrow weights. Heavy arrows are also no problem. I shoot well over 500 grains (around 12 grains per pound) from my 46# Kanati, and it chucks them out with authority.
I also shot a deer with a 52# Kanati that I had and used a 1916 with a 125 grain Woodsman. No problem! Then again, as Jason said, 2016s shot equally well. I don't recall even adding tip weight to them.
I settled on the 46# Kanati because it shot through deer, hit where I pointed it, and was easier on my aging shoulders. It seemed that it just always went with me when I went out the door, so I sold the 52# to another member here because it was a shame to see it on the rack instead of in the woods.
Congratulations on your purchase of what I consider the best bow made.

I shoot full length (30.5 inch) Gold Tip Traditional 35-55's out of my 50# Kanati simply because I don't want to load up the front end and want to keep the total arrow weight around 500 grains. With just the standard insert and 125 grain tip they fly very well for me.
Take care,

Mine are 45#@26". I shoot Gold Tip 35-55's cut at 27". I have 100 grain inserts with 200 grain Muzzy Phantoms 2 blade. They are 520 grains.

My specs are in my signature below.

Actually my bow isn't a Kanati, but was made by J.K. Traditions. Probably before the Kanati was developed. Is this bow much different than the Kanat?
I'll probably shoot carbons with 100 grain inserts to get the weight up to 500 grains or so. Would Carbon Express Heritage 150's (spine .487) work?
-
The Kobekohna River bows are great shooters also. I've owned both and never had any problems tuning either to carbon arrows.
Jason makes a great bow.

It's my go to bow.

The CX 150s should work, good shaft and nice bow.

Mine is marked "J.K. Tradition-58". I s this before the Kanati?

It could be, if you can send me a picture along with the serial number on the side.

Probably the best short longbow out there imho. Smooth on the draw. Quick and quiet. I shoot a 58" 43@28 and I'm drawing it to 29.5" I shoot a a very heavy arrow. 640 grains+/- and 30.25". It shoots flat out to 20 yards then drops off fast. Thats OK. I won't shoot at game at anything more than 20 yards anyways.
I've got a little of everything in the arrow bucket. GT 55/75 blems. Vapor 400s and a dozen or so GT 55/75 Ted Nugent blems. They all shoot straight and hit hard.

swampdrummer,
You must have a lot of weight up front.
-
Jason,
I'll send a picture and serial number when the bow arrives.

Awesome bows I love mine. 500 spine carbons

Toby, I do have a bunch of weight up front. 100 gr brass insert and 225 gr in either a field point or broadhead. They don't get there fast but when they do they keep on going. The last 3 deer I've kiled the arrow was stuck in the ground 8 or 10 inches on the other side of the deer.Shot a 120 pound hog this summer and the broadhead stuck in a tree root after passing thru the hog. Couldn't get the arrow out of the root. Had to unscrew it and leave the head behind.Heavy arrows and EFOC works!
