What version (trad or trad lite) would you recommend for my bow? I'm shooting a Black Widow PLX longbow, cut to center, 52#@28" that I'm drawing about 29.5" (so about 56#'s). I have broadheads anywhere from 125-220 grains, but I'd like to stay around 150 grains if possible. Thanks for your help.
I would think the black Trad Lites would work just fine. Play with tip weight and length a little. For you,I would start with a full length and the 220 head and see where it goes.
I would have to agree. The tip weight is the biggest factor.
You might find that you are close to the break point in choice between AD Trads and Trad Lites, depending upon how long you leave the arrow shaft, and how much weight you put on the tip. I used Trads on a 58# draw at 30" with 200 gr. and a total length to BOP 30.75". You can get away with a little stiffer AD shaft because of the taper.

My choice would be the trad Lites and likely using the upper range of what you had formerly posted. More information regarding your expectations and the quarry you pursue may paint a different picture.
Mr. Terry Green would likley be an excellent resource.
I am shooting trads out of a pronghorn and getting excellent flight. My bow is 55lbs @ 28" (I am drawing 28"). My arrows are cut to 29" and I am using standard inserts with 175 grn broadheads.

I am shooting a Black Widow PSA2 that is 52@28 and I draw 28.5". With 125 grain heads I shoot the trad lites cut to 30" but with my 175 grain heads I had to go to the trads and leave them full length. With the 175 grain heads the trad lites were slightly underspined. I think it will depend on the weight up front and one may not work for all your different head weights.
Been shooting AD's for a number of years now.
I am shooting a PLX 51@28". I draw a true 28 so mine are 29"BOP. I am shooting Lites with an AD alu insert and 177gr total point weight (42gr BH adaptor and 135gr Sasquatch BH). 5" three fletch. They are fast and hit hard. I would think you could shoot the lites with BH's up to 170gr or so but past that I am not sure. Your draw length could put you in the "crack" between the two
I shoot the AD T-lites from 55-60lb bows drawn to 25" and cut them to 27.5"
They fly great out of all my recurves and I think they are about as forgiving a shaft as I have ever used. I never used any extra weight up front and get great penetration with relatively slow bows.(hard to get a bow drawn only 25" to shoot real fast)
Thanks for all the responses, fellas. I have a half dozen trads here and I think I have a few hammerheads and hammerhead lites lying around somewhere. Trick is finding time in the day to mess with them. I figured my draw length is what is going to put me between the two. I can stretch myself out more (and tend to with a recurve) and my draw is closer to 30.5", but seem pretty comfy around 29.5" with the longbow. Thanks again, I'll try and get some of these fletched up and flying to see how they work for me...Mike
