Title: Finally dialed in!! Sadly season is over :(
Post by: Thebear_78 on October 01, 2011, 06:40:00 PM
After getting bit by the ILF bug this fall I picked up a set of Dryad limbs from the classified section and a morrison 17" riser.   The bow has proven a little more difficult for me to get tuned up than usual.  I think it has more to do with me trying to change too many variables at once than any reflection on the bow itself.

After trying a bunch of different shafts and weights I have settled on 32" 55/75 GTs with 1.25"  easton 2117 aluminum footing and 125gr tip, with a 5gr per inch weight tube.  Total arrow weight of 598grs.  I would have figured that to be to stiff but it bareshafts well and shoots really good.

The  dryad limbs are 55 @ 28 on 19" riser.  I don't have a bow scale but I'm guessing its 59-60 at my 29" draw with the 17" morrison riser.   Man these limbs really zip an arrow.  I'm getting an average arrow speed of 184fps.

I put an Alpine softlok bow quiver on it and a set of ASAT limbsations from onestringer.   The limbsations look really cool and should help protect the limbs from scratching while hunting.  Even had enough to match the quiver head to the limbs.

It took a bit of playing with the brace height to get it to quiet down but now its pretty good with just wool puffs.  Not quite as quiet as my Firefly T/D but pretty good.

125gr is lighter than any broad heads I currently have so I'm planning to pick up some magnus stingers or maybe one of the new stainless snuffers.   I've had good luck in the past with snuffers but the stingers might be better for moose.

Most of hunting season is over now but I still have bear until they go to sleep for the year and there is a registration cow moose hunt I would like to do.  Will really depend on if I can get out of work long enough to do it.   I'm also sure it will get some use on bunnies this winter and maybe a late season IL doe hunt.

I just got by first ILF riser this week. I;ve had some limbs around for use on a warfed compound riser so I thought I'd try the Pinnacle 2 from Tradtech...man that thing really shoots. I have a set of limbs that give me 46lbs at my draw and a set that give me 54lbs...I shot the 46s today with some 485gr 5575 Goldtips...

It shoots with some moxie for sure. I'm gonna spend some time with it to see how it goes but I was so unbleievable accurate with it I think I could hunt with it in 2 weeks..

I have the ILF bug bad,   just purchased another one off the classified.   a 13" zipper with long tradtch longbow limbs.  I just really like the fact that there are so many interchangeable options out there for the ILF bows.
