I quit dippin 3 years ago, but up until then I dont think I have killed a deer or caught a fish without a dip in my cheek since I was 16. never had any bad reaction from deer and I always spit either down the tree or beside it. I have over a hundred bow kills in my 36 years. Thats alot of cans of skoal.

It has never hurt my hunting either.

Deer love Copenhagen - maybe more than I do?  Usd to put a pinch on a stump under my tree and watched a lot of deer wander up and eat it.  I learned this working on a ranch - horses would eat a whole pouch of Red Man - bag and all - if they got a hold of it.

I have seen them bolt from Levi Garret and come straight at me from down wind while I was smoking high grade English pipe tobacco. Your results may vary.

Never hurt my brothers hunting but you ought to see the inside of his lips. Skin graphs and cancerous cells removed.

Miles Keller told me years back that he always dipped while in the stand.

Being a little honery, I have spit some of this good stuff on the backs of at least three different bucks that were right beneath the stand. There were absolutley no responses.

It won't hurt your hunting, but it will kill you.

Chances are, if they can smell your Dip they can smell you too.

I chewed Levi while bowhunting for 20 yrs, never had any problems with deer spooking or felt the chew hindered my chances at seeing game.

Finally gave it up cold turkey 2 yrs ago....listened to my wife and grand kids.....   :nono:    ;)

I have been chewing since 7th grade so thats over 25 years.  I recently quit this spring but couldnt resist not chewing in Elk camp this year. When it comes to hunting....chewing is part of the deal for me I guess.  I'm hooked again darn-it!

I used to carry a little bottle to spit in while on stand.  Cant imagine a deer eating Copenhagen but I dont doubt you.  I know Bears hate the smell of the stuff as well as dogs.

I chewed copenhagen for 23 years before I quit 7 years ago. I never chewed in my stand. Dont know if it made a difference or not but who wants to take that chance on a chance of a lifetime buck in Ohio. You may only get one!
All this coming from a guy who chewed a can and a half in a day. SO yes,it was tough but I didnt do it.

Quit chewing Skoal about 5 years ago. I always chewed while hunting.
Never felt like it hindered my hunting in any way.

I have chewed for .........lets just say too long now. Anyways I have had deer lick the spit off of leaves and grass below my stand, so I don't think it has any effect. Maybe an attractant if anything.

Being strictly a ground hunter, I would worry more about the excess movment involved in spitting either in a cup or on the ground. I have been busted more times by movement than I have been by smell

While hunting I use Skoal Apple flavor as food source scent.  At least that is what I keep saying to my self.  Any other time I cure my nicotine addiction with Copenhagen.

chewed Copenhagen for 21 years.  I quit 3 years ago, but still miss it like crazy while I'm deer hunting or playing golf.  I definitely don't have any more deer in bow range since I quit.  I really think it might have even helped.  I have promised my wife and kids that I won't do it anymore, so I won't.  Still miss it like crazy, though.  It is the nectar of the gods.  One of life's great injustices that it is bad for you.

Ha! Funny story. Last fall never had a shot opportunity during archery season. Saw bucks, but not within range. I'm a VERY occasional chewer...only REDMAN cuz its weak! On stand with my recurve opening day of shotgun. Decided to put a big wad in to pass time and relax. Spit right on the damn ground not expecting to see a damn thing. Just chilling out.  8 a.m., young 3 point buck comes right up to me sniffing, ends up in my freezer!

Used to chew Levi  for many years  Only used it when hunting or fishing. NEVER  spooked the deer or other game  Deer and other game LOVE IT '.
Once years ago  when I still smoked cigarettes  Dropped a lit one from the stand  when I spotted a herd of deer about 80 yards away   The lead doe  chanced directions  to the scent of the burning cig and came right into it,  and then tried to eat it  LIT   she got a  shock  but DEER love tobacco .

i chew when i hunt also.  i can't say it hurts anything either.  last year i sat in a tree all day. i'm talking from sunrise to sunset. i chewed a lot that day. right at dark i had 2 does come and lick up all that spit under my tree.  it got to be an hour after dark and i had to come down and run them off. seems to me that they loved it as much as me.

I chew/chewed (depending on when you ask me) Levi Garrett.  About the only way it'll hurt is if you forget to move the chaw over to your non-anchor side.  That big lump will mess up your anchor point and throw off your shot.  Trust me.

I chewed a can a day and when I quit in 2000 I gained 60 pounds in 17 minutes. Now I've lost 70 pounds and I have a bunch of Levis 501 jeans with circles on the back pocket.

Bow hunting has not gotten easier.

I usually have a big ole spit pile of Beech Nut or Red Man under my tree & have had for most of 30+ years.  I quit for some time & then "fell off the wagon".

Most the deer I cared didn't react one way or the other, but I've also had them sniff it closely out of curiosity.

I don't think it has any impact on the deer, but when they remove half of your jaw, where do you anchor?

Sorry, but I lost my uncle to mouth and throat cancer. First they took the right half of his lower jaw. A few years later, the cancer was back. When he died he was 5'11" and weighed 67 pounds.

I'll just hunt without tobacco, thank you.

Never had a problem. I don't see anything when I dip, and I don't see anything when I don't dip. The key is that I don't want to kill someone when I have the dip in. 30coupe. Sorry for your loss. I guess we all take our chances.
