It was a good first week. At 6:48 this morning a single doe came feeding down the ridge. At 10 yards she gave me a quartering shot. The Wensel Woodsman blew right through her and her far leg was back and the arrow went right through the foreleg. About 5 min. later a 6 pointer came in and he saw the doe which only made it about 50 yards. He made a big circle around her, took a good look then walked off up the ridge. Saw 3 more does this evening. They ate acorns up on the ridge about 50 meters from me but never came to visit.
With those two in the freezer we are looking much better for the fall and winter. Now I've got to get my Elm selfbow finished and climb in a stand with it.
Nice. Always good when they go down in sight :)
Nice work
Congrats!
 congrats.!
Will the "Hackberry Hammer" get a turn this year Ranger B ? I think you put down 6 with it the first year ? Congrats bud !
NoCams - No, the HH has been retired. I got it out last year to shoot it a bit after sitting for a year while I was in Afghanistan. It seems to stack pretty bad now, but about 18 months ago I made a "Hammer II" It's shooting nice so I may take it out. I am also working on a Winged Elm selfbow that I hope to have done in 2-3 weeks. Hope you have a great season.
Very nice. Congratulations on your success.

Was just asking my Buddy, what ever happened to the Hackberry Hammer Guy? Hate to see you retire it. It was a killing machine.
  Way to go sir!
Yes, I fully intended to hunt with it last year but it just would not cooperate. I had a lot of fun with that bow.
