I am having some arrows done to hunt with and can not decide what color to use. I will be hunting Javelina in January. Help.
I like white or yellow.. Those are the 2 best colors that i can see in flight
white, yellow, blaze orange, lime green...
four white 4-inch shields with a white 6" wrap and a 1" blood red crest (to commemorate what they're for) and a white nock.
Tried four barred, pretty as all get out, but couldn't see it worth a damn.
Mine are easy to see.
Pink feathers with a orange wrap or cap dip is what i like.
yellow with white cap! Great to see!
Anything visible to your eye when you shoot it. Whatever you like. Remember red is the first color to drop out of the light spectrum when low light conditions prevail so not always as visible as other colors .
blood stained red is a great :readit: :bigsmyl:
All white or yellow and mark the cock feather with a sharpie .
I've always liked natural barred feathers in natural colors, like brown, grey, natural barred, green, black ect.for hunting. If I'm stumping or shooting 3D I like all white feathers and a white cap. I can't stand gawdy colors like orange, purple, fluorescent greens, blues.
As long as this has been brought up I've never understood why we get camo'd head to toe and then decide to use a big white cap and white feathers.
White is a danger sign in Mother Nature to most animals. I do have hunting arrows where I have a splice of a 1/2" of white feather in the back with a 1/2" of white cap.
Kinda with MikeW on white, but not on gaudy colors, b/c I use orange.
All 3 white/ 2 white and one barred/ 2 white one orange
Those are my picks
I use yellow. Easy to see in flight and easier to find in the snow if you miss. But, since you are in AZ I don't think you get as much snow as we do up here. :)
Blue all the way. It's the only color that really stands out in a world of gray, green, brown, yellow and orange in the fall. White will get you shot in my neck of the woods.
I started using some pink low bananas recently. They are so much easier for me to see than any of the other colors I've used in the past. They're not pretty, no doubt about it, but they stick out like a sore thumb. That I like.
I thought about blue, too. But deer do see blue colors. It probably wouldn't matter, though.
I use all white. It is easy to see and is not an unnatural color in the woods.
I like all blue or 2 blue and one lime

No but it's a big red flag to deer...what do deer do when they are spooked or something isn't right? Or rabbits for that matter.
I used Blazer Orange wrap with Yellow feathers. Easy for me to see.
I use 3, 5" all white feathers as white is the last color I can see as it starts getting light in the morning as well as it's the last color I can see in the fading light of dusk before darkness falls signaling the beginning of night.
i have been a blaze orange guy for a while. last week i need some feathers and my shop only had brown and pink.... i went with the pink.
it might be that its a new color that i'm not used to see but i think it really stands out.
We are only shooting 20 yards right?
I've managed to kill a couple of critters using all white or all yellow. I can see those colors well.
I use Fluorescent Yellow feathers with a yellow cap wrap. Easy to see in poor light.
MikeW... I'm sometimes concerned about how much white I'm flashing, but usually it's mostly hidden. When I was shooting a compound I eventually dumped the white dip for that reason. My arrows do sometimes "wear" a Kathy Kelly fletch bag, but it's noisy if you have to nock a second arrow. It's a trade off. Seeing definitatively where that arrow impacts is important to me.
Here is what I like for hunting:

Florescent green fletching, white nocks, red and white reflective tape crest. I tend to see these both in flight and should I lose one, I can go back after dark and find it with a flashlight. Second choice of feather color would be yellow. I see it better than I do white.
i love a tan stain, khaki cap with pink cock feather and purple hens
I shoot 3 flo-yellow, but studies show the human eye picks up baby blue or powder blue better than any color. I may do 2 baby blue and one flo-yellow next batch I make! Shawn
I use red with an orange cock feather for my recurve and neon yellow with a white cock feather for my other bow. I use white arrow tape on both. I got a roll off **** for about 8 dollars shipped, its a giant roll and I've done about 30 arrows so far and haven't put a dent in it.
I prefer Hot Pink, Chart, White and Flo Orange. Here are some samples of customer arrows and mine.

I like pink or chartreuse. I find the chartreuse almost glows in low light.
Natural barred feathers with flourescent green nocks.the nocks really shine to me and seem to gather light in dim light. But I am color blind somewhat too.
Red and white, white crowned.
I can see the flo yellow feathers much better than any other color. I am going to try some pink ones as well.
I use two flo yellow / chartreuse hens and a natural barred cock feather. Very visible in flight.
I just ordered a new dozen with a white barred feather and 2 pink. I love em.
I use 5" florescent shield cut feathers. The cock feather is flor. green, and the other two are flor. green barred feathers. I use a flor. green nock. They are easy for me to see.

The older my eyes get the whiter my fletching gets.

x2
Pink and 1 green. Can see pink real easy, and well, I just like green.
I think it really depends on what you like best. if a deer is looking at you close enough to pick out your fletching, you are already in trouble... :nono:
I too like high visability. I use an orange capwrap with 2 orange feather with the cock bright yellow. Those colors seem to stand out in any enviroment helping me find my arrow after the shot. For me the yellow actualy stands out the best
I like natural barred turkey wing colors..3 of them 4" shield cut with no wraps this yr. Probably going to lose some arrows.
I've been using white, but may change to blue for reasons stated in earlier posts.
Y'all do know that blue is one color that a deer can see... Right :D
I fletched up some arrows with four 4 inch parabolic in a lime green color over some flor green wraps and some white wraps. I like the green wraps better. They seem to be very visible and they are what I will be hunting with. Come on Oct 1, two more days and the waiting will be over.

Hey creek, one of those better be red on the first. ;)
I have found pink the easyest for me to see.Two pink and one white.

Yup, they see the world in shades of gray, UV, blue and yellow to some degree. Problem for me is, I can't get them to help me find my lost arrows ;-)
i use black and white 95% of the time.yea im lame. i also like red and black. your choices are endless.

Use what you think looks cool to you. I use any floresant color I have and white .

I prefer Gold and Black:

I've been using this combination for a couple of years now and really like it.

Ya gotta love those Team Pink fellas....I think we should have our own forum...Team Pink where everyone can show off their arrows and kills... :archer2:
I have migrated towards two bright yellow with a green cock feather. White cap dip.
I prefer white rabbit fur tracers and natural colors. They look like puff balls going in flight...Doc

I've been using 2 yellow and 1 natural barred for quite a few years. Just like the way they look when they turn red!

I haven't read all of the posts above---some years ago I used pink feathers and white nock on shafts that had been dipped in Fl.Rocket Red lacquer. Can't find the lacquer since fletch lac seems to have dropped it, but that combo stood out even in the lowest light conditions anyone might find in the deep woods at dusk.

Oh---meant to also say there sure are some nice looking arrows in the photos above.

I can lose any color...

Got a chuckle out of this one. So true.
orange for me. I use to use all white, but sometimes have a hard time seeing them on fall leaves. It has to do with the light and dark patches on the forest floor. Also I use a bow quiver and I would have a patch of white bounceing along as I'd go to and from my stand. Some concern about poachers in my area.
