Title: Shrew Bow Guys
Post by: PastorSteveHill on September 27, 2011, 10:53:00 PM
Did I read somewhere that the Selway slide on quivers should not be used on a Shrew bow?

I don't recall that ever being said....although if you do use one, make sure you slide it down past the fadeouts....That is a rule no matter what bow you put it on.

You read it or your heard it, and it is correct at least with the short bows.  I know the instructions sent with the CH bows note that you can have issues with the glass if using a slide on quiver, but not with the strap on ones.  No specific quiver is named if I recall correctly, but you get the idea.  Call or e-mail Ron of Gregg for more info.

From the bow instructions I got this spring:

WARNING! Bow quivers that slide down over the limb of the bow may cause damage to your Shrew bow. The short riser of the Shrew bows dictate that the fadeout portion of the riser bend some with the limb.  The type of quiver described, restrict the bending creating a fulcrum affect which in time may cause white spots from the glass separating from the wood which in turn could cause the bow to break at that point.  Bow Quivers with wrap around straps of nylon or rubber are OK to use.  Only the rubber slide over quivers should be avoided."
