...till Mich bow opener.
I havent been this fired up for an opening day in a long time. Last year delt some cruel cards and I didnt get in the woods AT ALL. I usually dont get too wound up till mid October but after missing last year, I'm so ready I cant stand it!
I sort a think my wife will be glad to get me outa here too.
Good Hunting Everyone!
Eric
Thought about going duck & goose hunting on the 1st but the weather is looking like it's going to better to bow hunt for us up here in northern MI. Good luck.
I hear yeah brother. Its going to bee along week. We open up the 1st. good luck
So does WV... anxious to get out.
Good luck to all!
So does Illinois! I'm looking forward to opening day as an excuse to get out of the city and into the woods.

Looks like it should be a good season, deer population seems good, outstanding growing season for the nut and fruit trees. So ya never know...something just might happen.
Eric
Opens on the 1st here in Virginia too! This will also be my first year trad bowhunting after 3 years of practice!
October 15 is the magic day here in Alabama.
Same here! But bucks only through 10/15 in our late rut zone (to protect fawns). We still have batchelor groups.
I'm pretty fired up about Saurday - temps are already looking 10 below the mid week, but still in the 80s ;)
I am stuck in seattle working a job for my company. I wont get to go to my missouri farm till late october, but im taking all winter off. The wait is killing me!
I'm pumped too!!
Arkansas opens the 1st too. I moved my last stand today.. Found a rub on a tree the size of my leg. I am READY.. Been sharpening broadheads all week
Oct 1 here in IN too..........
Forecast? Mostly sunny NNE wind 9mph 60 high, 43 low.
I took the day off, Work sunday but off monday and tuesday.
Ill be out there.
I've hunted this very small woods (16 acres on 80 acres of ground) since 76. Most of my "scouting" is done checking my "usual areas" a few days during early season and watching for bigger rub patterns. I can about tell you where they will be. Sounds over confident but believe me, I am not.
I know good ones are THERE....placing myself within range of them on my bucket is indeed fun and challenging but doe hunting too till "that time" arrives and the bigger bucks come out more often.
I see a few nice ones early but it's rare. WAY too much corn around this area for them to frequent the woods till looking for the girls.
Hunting mostly with my 52 (birth year) Bear bows (but the way Im shooting my 66 K it may lead the season) this year, I'm anxious to whack a few....just hoping no "just ok" bucks show up so Im not too tempted.
.........but if I take one...it will be my choice and it will be a trophy to me regardless of what is out there. Never shot one yet I've "regreted" shooting....yish.
I dont get too "hung up" on inches. I just like bigger body bucks with some mass yet a lot of years a decent 2 year old just gets TOO close and TOO good a shot presents itself.......and I cant stand it. LOL
When they are all pumped up during the prerut and rut........dang arent they AWESOME?
and ......Aint it fun!!!? :goldtooth:
God Bless
Steve
Opening day of deer season is always special! Iowa's also opens on Saturday. I'll be hunting in Wisconsin Thursday - Saturday, then back to Iowa to hit Iowa's second day. Good luck to everyone!

Greatest day of the year. Lets get this started
Come on October 1st!

I'm sure no one else is counting  so I figured I better remind you guys, 3, THREE, three, III more days! :D
Looking forward to this year. My son will hunt with me some this weekend. Home from college Friday, goes to his girlfriends homecoming game, dash up to th cabin, hunt Saturday morning, then back to the girlfriends for her birthday, then hopefully back for the evening hunt. I was planning on putting him to work setting stands but his schedule looks full! It will be good to see him in his ground blind with that ol' Bear bow at the ready!
I'll roll past you Friday night on my way to the UP, you've got lots of nice country there!
I haven't hunted the U.P. in years. It was always a grand adenture! We hunt near Ruby Creek where the bucks are small and the does are smaller!
S N S, I'm about 1.5 mi south of where the 131 4 lane ends, between old and new 131. I hunt about 4 mi west of the Manistee river bridge.
Eric
I'm at the bottom of the Keweenaw, pretty much just bears, wolves, and mountain lions but I'm in good company with the top predator club :)
I did spend quite a bit of time in Manton years ago, before the bypass. Some good little greasy spoons and a great building for the fire hall. I know I still slow down when driving through there at night, too many deer! That's good for you!
I hope you got in any salmon fishing you wanted to do already, almost up to deer season!!!

October 1 down here in Mississippi. Me and my hunting buddy are both off for the first 10 days. It's gonna be great!
Every morning hearing acorns "thumpin" the shed out back....cool mornings, sleeping with the window open...blue jays squawkin...!! I can't wait to be in my stand to experience the woods as it "wakes" up! Good luck to all and shoot straight!! :campfire:
Can't wait for Sat morning! I'll be out in the Scio Twp area with my 11 year old son! Looks like the weather is going to be perfect...mid to low 30's!!! :campfire:
I'll be out the morning of the 1st also in Indiana. Not sure when my next chance will be. I got 4 razor sharp Grizzlys I'm hunting with this year. I can make my practice arrow hunt sharp too if need be. YEE HAA!!
still 90+ here but saturday is getting closer.
October 1st here in Oklahoma too. It was sweet of them to open it on my birthday. To celebrate I think I will see if Bambee will come home for lunch with me.
This is shaping up to be a banner year for me. I'll be hunting a 23,000 acre WMA in WV that my "new to me" cabin borders. Been wanting to buy a cabin bordering hunting land for 10+ years and I finally made it happen. I'll be leaving Friday night for my first of many hunting trips to come. Weather is going to cool off this weekend and looking good!
JL
Hunting 2 different areas one an hour from home the other 2hrs this weekend. Forecast is for low 40's should be nice. Looking forward to Saturday.
Just told a guy at work..."If the doctor's ever give me just a week to live I hope it's the week before opening day." Cause that is the looooongest week of the year!!!!
I was suppose to go to hospital this coming Mon. and be put to sleep for a look down my throat. Told them today to put it off till the 11th. so I could have a little more hunting time in case it's bad news.
Well Gang, here we go...
Its been howlin' wind and rain here today and darn chili too! Hopefully the wind dies down some tomorrow, the only safe place to sit today would be in the middle of a field where nothing can fall on you. Droppin down into the 30's tonight, could be a great morning!
Good luck, shoot strait and stay safe!
Eric
Nasty weather today for sure, But the morrow will bring the hunt.
Good luck Eric and to all.
