Title: Martin Mamba and X200 shooters the grip
Post by: dad on September 23, 2011, 09:12:00 AM
I've looked at them both and was wondering on the grips what is the correct way to hold them? They are  round almost. I do heal down but on these I just can't seam to figure them out. Any advise would be helpful.

I have a 50lb X200. I don't heel down on a recurve, I've found that If I touch the bow much with the heel of my hand it'll cause me to shoot left. I form a circle with my thumb & trigger (first) finger & grip the bow loosly that way.
Hope my description makes sence?

What Frank said...kind of like holding a frog by the neck with your 1st finger and thumb, but still letting him breath.   :D

I use a "high" grip (opposite of heeling) and just rest my lower three finger tips on the side of the handle. My grip of the string cants the bow for me, not my bow hand. And I use a slightly bent elbow, rotated out from vertical about to the 7'oclock position.
