can someone explain to me what the benefits are of the carbon? And disadvantages if any?
noise?
weigth?
smoothness?
speed?
i know a lot of questions on Habu, but trying to decide which to buy...
thanks
mike
I don't think my death adder has carbon in the limbs since it was one of the first made. But it is smooth as anything and I thought the 57# at 27.5 would be too heavy but it pulls so smooth. The carbon seems to add some speed and lighten the bows weight.
bow weight is OK - I like them heavy - makes me shoot better.
Heavier limbs would be expected to move slower and possibly more vibration given the same specs.
i would have expected more vibs from carbon - interesting.....
1. Carbon is an excellent dampener
2. Less mass moving forward, at relative similar speeds, at release equates to less shock at the end of the power stroke.
Owned 6 of Chris's bows since 1999.My latest is a triple carbon longbow(60'').I also have a set of first generation(glass) hycurve limbs(60'').
I draw 27'' and like bows 60lbs+.If I would order a new Habu,I would get the 62'' hycurve.I know the longbow is quieter but the shootablity of the hycurve trumps the quietness factor for me.
Either way,Chris's bows are excellent in all aspects. For me the finest built bow today.
i think i am going with the hycurve limbs - thanks guys for the help.
If I heard correctly, Chris is now making tripple carbon hycurve limbs. I've got tripple carbon longbow limbs, and love them, but I would be very tempted to get the hycurve limbs. I shot some of the old hycurve limbs and found them to be the best recurve type limb I had ever shot. Chris convinced me to get the longbow limbs, saying that they shoot about the same, except the hycurve is faster, and the longbow is quieter. I will say this, the tripple carbon longbow limbs are extremely smooth, especially for longbow limbs. My hycurve with the longbow limbs, is smoother than my older habu recurve.
Hi Jon,
Is your last statement what you meant to write?
OOPS..thanks Friend...what I meant to say was My Vyperkhan with the longbow limbs is smoother than my older Habu recurve. I believe my old ebony recurve, (Which Chris no longer makes) is a 2002 or 2003.
